| All the boards that were ordered under the special AmiExpo deal
($220) shipped out Monday (08-May).
JrComm V.93 actually has a setup section for choosing one of several
serial ports!

I have been dying to try out JrComm but have not seen it uploaded

AzComm.

2533.7 | DSB Installed and Running! | 25520::MACDONALD | WA1OMM 7.093/145.05/223.58 AX.25 | Fri May 12 1989 13:31 | 42 |
| I received my ASDG DSB (Dual Serial Board) yesterday. The board
contains two IBM style DB-9 connectors. You can pick up DB9 <->
DB25 shsield cables from Radio Shack for $17. A disk comes with
the hardware that installs some new drivers and libraries to support
the board.
I figured I'd put it to the test immediately ... I loaded Whap!
V1.7 and set the device on it to siosbx.device Unit 1. This new
feature of Whap! V1.7 allows the user to set the serial device.
siosbx.device is the ASDG equivalent of serial.device in AmigaDOS.
There are two ports 0 (lower) and 1 (upper) on the DSB. I ran Whap!
and it sure as tootin' dialed up CIS and downloaded all the new
message headers I wanted via port 1 of the DSB.
Next, I tooked JrComm V.93 (also has a device option) and set that
to siosbx.device Unit 0. I connected that port up to my packet radio
TNC. Voila! it worked.
Then I was ready for the ultimate test, running Whap! on CIS via
modem on DSB 1, JrComm on packet radio on DSB 2, and DEC via my
DF224 on the 200's regular serial port. Voila! they all worked,
running simultaneously - wild! No problems.
It is also possible to go into any comm program with NEWZAP and
change all the occurrences of serial.device to siosbx.device. This
will cause the terminal program to default to Port O on the DSB.
Only two comm programs I know of actually have a device menu in
their setup - Whap! V1.7 and JrComm V.93.
ASDG supplies another nifty program that when installed as
serial.device will place a requestor on the screen whenever
serial.device is accessed asking which of the three serial ports
you want to use. If you don't click on anything within 15 seconds,
it automatically defaults to the regular serial port. I chose not
to use it, opting to just modify the programs I'd be using on each
port.
All in all, a nice hardware addition to the 2000. BTW, you should
be seeing these at dealers next week, at a slightly higher price
than the $220 special deal offered several months ago.
