2528.0. "<< Amiga -> Microvax? >>" by NWD002::FREEMANRO (FIREWALKER) Wed May 03 1989 13:21

    I have a question That I'm sure someone can answer. I've been unable
    to find any reference in the notesfile but I may not be asking the
    right question. So, here goes...I have a lot of difficulty downloading
    to my Amy at home due to the phone system ( GTE )...random noise,etc.
    I have acces to a Microvax II here at work and would like to know
    if it is possible to directly connect Amy to the Micro and download
    the programs? I have no problem bringing my system in to work and
    am willing to build or buy the neccessary cable(s). But I am a
    relative novice at this and would appreciate any help and info anyone
    could supply. BTW, my system is an A1000, 512k, 2 drives. I hope
    to add on some hard disks and memory this summer. Thanks in advance...

You can simply use a standard female to female (BC22D?) RS232 cable. After that
it's just like a 19200 baud modem!

For an A1000 you need a MALE connector for Amy's serial port. Also, if
you do use a "standard" cable, just make sure there are no connection
to the power pins on the serial port, just to be on the safe side.

2528.3COPY directly to Amiga?SNOFS1::ASHLEYFri Nov 24 1989 09:1610
    Is it possible to copy files directly between the amiga and a VAX.
    IE On the VAX: copy THIS_FILE.ARC TTA2: (comms port you plugged Amiga
    						into)

    	 On the Amiga: copy FROM AUX: TO THIS_FILE.ARC

    I seem to be unable to KERMIT files between our VAX in the office and
    my Amiga, which is running the comms program HANDSHAKE. Pretty sure
    that I just have to set up Kermit on the VAX correctly, but it sure
    would be faster to directly copy to/from the Amiga.
