| I'm suprised they lowered the price again. Last month I bought some
at 73 cents. For me MicroCenter is a walkin, they have 2 retail
locations here in Columbus.
Their prices are pretty competitive. They don't carry much for the
Amiga. But when they think something has been on the shelves for too
long they do some serious price lowering. A couple months ago I bought
City Desk for $27.50, Cinemaware's Sinbad for $17.50, and Ultima
IV for under $10.

2523.2 | Bad Disks From MEI | GLDOA::APPLEMAN | | Tue May 09 1989 16:44 | 16 |
| My brother bought 100 of the 69 cent disks from MEI a few weeks
ago and out of the entire batch, he could only format 3 and even
those had problems. Most of the disks had visible imperfections
on the oxide coating. A friend of my brothers also had the same
problem.
MEI took the bad disks back and replaced them, even paid for the
shipping both ways. The new disks work just fine. Don't know if
the replacement disks were the same mfg. as the first ones, but
they did look physically different.
I guess the moral is to check all of your disks as soon as you get
them so that you can get replacements for bad ones.

2523.3 | Sony's on sale | SMAUG::SPODARYK | Scaring the pedestrians... | Fri May 12 1989 00:42 | 9 |
| Not related to the MEI disks, but...
In Littleton, just a few yards from the King Street site (LKG1&2)
is a small PC shop, Computer Supplies International. They
are currently carrying the Sony 2DD for $16/per box of 10.
No affiliation, other than I thought that was a pretty good deal.

If your willing to buy bulk (in multiples of 100) try Data Direct in
Needham Mass. Data direct is a sony distributor. Sony disks were $.66ea
about a month ago. A few of us here in Marlboro pooled our orders and
bought 500. I was surprised to learn you can get sonys not only in
blue, but also in black, white and tan (I think).

2523.10 | very cheap - $ .39 each | WHAMMY::SPODARYK | Binary Throttle | Wed May 02 1990 16:21 | 15 |
| MEI is running a 'sale' on 3 1/2 in DD/DS floppies. They're only 39 cents
each, in blocks of 25. Throw in labels, shipping, and you're still under
$12 for a block of 25 disks. They're 100% guaranteed.
I've been accumulating Fish Disks, for I went for 100! I know I'll eventually
use them. A 50+ disk case is only $3.97 ($2.97 when ordering 2).
The address is:
MEI/Micro Center
1100 Steelwood Road
Columbus, Ohio 43212-3972

Lechmere has lowered their sale price on Sony 2DD's to $9.98. This is
the second time I've seen them at this price within a couple of months.
Here's a hot tip: look for the boxes plastered with ads for Andrew
Tobias' "Mangling Your Moola" or Spinnaker's "One-Person Orofice" Demos
for Itty-Bitty Machine's (gak!) and incompatibles and get an 11th disk
for free. The disk with the demo on it is not marked "Sony", but I
can't imagine them giving you a competitor's disk. Anyways, just
format over it and you have a "real" floppy (if you can live with the
awful label).

2523.12 | Building 19: $25 for 50 | ULTRA::KINDEL | Bill Kindel @ BXB1 | Tue Oct 09 1990 10:53 | 3 |
| My last batch of cheap disks came from Building 19, of all places.
They come in a poly-pack of 50 (no sleeves or labels) for $25 and can
be found in what passes for the stationery department.

| I got 100 bldg. 19 disks for $50 a few months back. Only about 90 of
them would format. Still, not a bad final price.

at the last computer show, $20 for 50 disks (the one you didn't go to
Steve :-) )
price included labels, your choice of blue, or some other colors.
no idea who made them, just generic blue disks, with protective
wrappers made from the stuff the grocery stores are now using instead
of paper bags.
