2518.0. "JOURNEY - from Infocom" by BOMBE::MOORE (So many holes to plug) Mon May 01 1989 04:03

I picked up one of Infocom's new offerings this weekend. "Journey" is
an excellent example of an interactive novel. This is a text adventure
with a very nicely drawn illustration displayed at each scene. Perhaps
the best part is their menu-based user interface, which operates as
smoothly and logically as any I've seen.

Scene descriptions are rich and elegant as we've grown to expect from
Infocom. Effects of choices you make along the way are integrated into
the text quite 'seamlessly'. The story line is somewhat similar to the
"Lord of the Rings". Unlike so many other adventure games, Journey
does not require you to follow a single predetermined 'correct' path to
the solution. Few, if any, choices lead to instant death. You might
take several (interesting) side trips on your quest.

The disk is not copy protected in any way. In fact, the instructions
recommend that you make and use a backup copy, or place it onto a hard
disk if you have one. The entire game is on a single 3.5" floppy. It
doesn't have any system, use your own favorite Workbench (1.2 & up).
Should be fine on a single drive system (one disk swap), and works with
    512K.

I'm very pleased with this one! Check it out...

2518.1Got Any Tips for Getting Up the Mountain??PEKING::WILLIAMSCFri Jun 23 1989 09:0912
I'm playing Journey at the moment. Its a really great game. So
far I have got to the bottom of the mountain but I cannot seem to
find a path to the top. Any hints?

What am I supposed to look for in the map?
Which symbols are the correct symbols on the map?

In short - how do I get up the mountain?

This puzzle has kept me up till 3am for three days running. Its
just one of those games where you just don't notice the time!!!!
