2500.0. "A Plea for Descriptive Note Titles" by CADSYS::MURATORI (Rich Muratori, SEG/CAD, HLO2) Mon Apr 24 1989 16:24

    Just a reminder to please use descriptive titles when you write a new
    note. It makes it much easier to locate all the useful info that gets
    entered here. Recently, I've noticed titles of the type "Another bug" or
    "More problems". Titles such as these make DIR/TITLE=?? useless.

    Thanks,
    Rich (not a moderator but studying to be one)

    I second that motion!

    This notes file is getting very large and anything we can do to
    make searching through it easier would be appreciated by all.

    I also agree. A topic titled "Need Help" is "no help" on a title
    search.

    I think the one thing we could all do is to keep the threads on
    one topic together.It seems that someone will post a note,and then
    days later post another,on the same topic or pointing back to the
    first note.If a topic has been addressed we should learn to use
    that note,and not start another.I too get the feeling that if I
    go back to a note labled lets say "professional page"an leave a
    request for help it will go unnoticed.In this notes file it may
    well be the case!This is because we have gotten into the habit of
    writing a new note,as opposed to useing the old.Maybe we can have
    the moderator help us clean up the notes.A good example would be
    the topics Downloading,and arc.

2500.4Delete your old 4SALE notesCHET::NILSENBob Nilsen @ 264-7017Tue Apr 25 1989 09:136

      Also, How about deleting old FOR-SALE notes, after they have been
    sold instead of writing a reply saying SOLD.

    We should all try to use keywords more often. I know that I never
    do. If you are not familiar with keywords check out the help system
    within notes. Also for your own benefit you can use the MARK command to
    help you find specific notes in a conference. I do use MARK quite
    often.

    I disagree completely. If we have no keywords and vague topic titles
    then it's necessaryh to read through many more topics and replies
    to get the information, and on the way, you learn much more about
    the amiga!

2500.7rather not browseWOODRO::LEIMBERGERTue Apr 25 1989 12:4310
    Maybe browsing is fun for you,but I think that an organized notes
    file is the only way to go.I have been following this note file
    for a long time,and have read most of the postings.If I need info
    on building a cable I want to find it quick,and easy.I don't want
    to have to plod through many notes I have read already.On days i
    feel like browsing then I do,but I like to do it by choice,not out
    of necessity.

2500.81 note for 'sale' itemsFSCORE::KAYEHe who dies with the most toys is deadTue Apr 25 1989 12:586
    re 'for sale'

    Why not have 1 note for sale items and 1 note for wanted items. Some
    other conferences use this and it seems to work quite well.
