2459.0. "install Lattice C V5 on harddrive?" by FSCORE::KAYE (He who dies with the most toys is dead) Mon Apr 10 1989 09:57

Has anyone successfully used the Lattice 'install_hd' procedure
to install V5 on a harddrive. The manual isn't very explicit. Inside
this procedure is something called '<hdisk>' and looks like a parameter
or something. It defaults to HD0:, but that's not what i want. Can
    someone enlighten me?

Execute command files allow for named parameters similar to DEC's
P1, P2, ..., P8 in command files. If you don't have one already
I'd suggest buying an AmigaDOS reference manual (Bantam). This describes
the features of the Execute command. Basically, you can look at
the top of the command file for a .key statement, you should be
able to figure out which parameter is the name of the disk drive.
For example if HDISK is the first parameter, you might do:

    1> execute hd-install DH1:

    - steve

Yes thanx. There was a '.k <hdisk>' commmand at the start of the
command procedure and i just got a copy of the AmigaDos book last
week (haven't had a chance to read it yet). So i will read a bit
    and give it a try.

Re: .0

For what it is worth, I used the Lattice install command file successfully.
I believe that I did have to specify a single parameter, the name of the
disk drive to install upon (something like):

	execute lattice_install dh0:

You have to delete and previous LC directory you had from previous versions
first.

You need to copy (as stated in the manual) the install script to
ram: and the CD to ram: otherwise it fails installing.

    Otherwise the installation runs fine.

re:.-1 The installation procedure tells you to delete LC: if it
exists! However you must deassign LC: (in case you do it in
    startup-sequence...) first.
