I am VERY upset!!!!! I am about to put a Amigabasic program in public
domain that is about 500k and there so many bmaps and libraries
it will be too hard for the downloader too get it to work. Also,you
can not the game from workbench because it will ask for the workbench
disk and the libraries are not on the workbench. I should complain
to Commodore!!!! I am not trying to do anything illeagle!!

| Well, don't feel to bad. There are probably many other developers
stuck like you are. I know that to get Ralph Reed's Battleforce
game you have to copy a bunch of libraries to the disk. It would
be a real pain for a novice user to try to do himself unless he
or she knew how to use the CLI.
Solutions? I dunno of any.

If the problem is to get the "novice user" to move some files, make a procedure
for him. Put a "readme" or an "ICONX" in the workbench. Thats what many
of the comercial guys do when they want to help you install on a hard disk
etc.

2420.5 | yes a procedure is the way to go | STAR::ROBINSON | | Tue Apr 04 1989 13:04 | 7 |
| I agree with .4. Check out some of the disk magazines. I saw at least
one that provided Amigabasic games and let you click on an icon to
"install" Basic. After installation, the icon said "Amigabasic
installed by user". The procedure told the user to insert the "Extras"
disk etc. It is an extra pain for the programmer, but worth the effort
I think.

2420.6 | In UK it's PD I think. | AYOV28::ATHOMSON | C'mon, git aff! /The Kelty Clippie | Wed Apr 05 1989 05:01 | 15 |
| Here in the UK, JumpDisk (a US originated disk based magazine) comes
with AmigaBasic and all required .bmap files on it already. I'm
sure that I remember reading that AmigaBasic was declared PD in
the UK quite some time ago. I might be worth writing a letter to
George Thompson Services (the UK JumpDisk distributors) for the
lowdown.... (they are VERY helpful). You can write to them at:
