You really should have replied to 2262, but anyway... YES !
I had phoned them, been told it had expired, I called back,
they said it was on again, they would send me a copy of the order
form/letter and I could make copies and pass them around. Oh, at some
point in the conversation I said I worked for "digital"...
"digital what ?...." I got the form this monday (20th.), so its still a
fairly fresh deal.

After posting their announcement about dropping future Amiga development, Pete
Peterson and Lynn LeBaron of WP stayed on CompuServe and listened to user
comments. And, believe it or not, it must have made a difference! The
following notice was posted to CompuServe today.

OK, things are looking up, the decision has been made.
As of today (8 May 1989) WordPerfect Corporation will continue to do new
development on WordPerfect for the Amiga. Three programmers will be
working on both maintaining version 4.1 and Library, and additionally they
will be working on a future version of WordPerfect.
Due to these limited resources, development will procede at a slower pace.
No attempt will be made to do a 6.0 product for the time being. However,
features will be added to the current product to move it in that direction.
Currently, the first priority is to complete the maintanence update of
4.1. This should take less than a month.
Next, development will be done on the new version. The current plans are
not complete, but here are some of the ideas:
- 4.2 file format
- Print preview
- Sort
- Document comments
- ARexx support
- Non-interactive spell checking
- Better scroll bar support
- Other 4.2 & 5.0 enhancements (dependant on demand & time)
We can now move forward and get back to doing some real work on the Amiga.
Please let me know of any opinions you have on the next version of
WordPerfect.
We have not totally ruled out graphics support, it is something we are
considering, but with the limited resources it is hard to justify. We
will, of course be looking at fixing the anomalies of 4.1 (scroll bars)
along with adding the new features.

2389.4 | Good news, but I still don't HAVE IT ! | ULTRA::BURGESS | | Fri May 12 1989 12:50 | 10 |

Ahhhh, I was beginning to believe the $99 special was a fire sale.
I still don't have mine yet, they bounced the order because they said my VISA
was invalid - I'd dropped the last 4 digits. They had also processed it at $89
and added 5% mass sales tax, don't know exactly what I'll finish up paying,
but it still looks like a good deal, especially now that theres a chance of
upgrades further down the road.

A recent call to the Amiga WP Hotline netted the following tidbits:
1. A maintenance update, 4.1.12, is due out the beginning of November.
The draw seems to be a new improved status line which will tell the
user which codes are before, under, and after the cursor WITHOUT
having to do the Alt-F3 shuffle.
2. It was guestimated that a 5.0.x version with graphics would require
a system to have 2 megs of memory. Programmers want the new version
and Management needs to realize the demand. Interested? A list is
in the making, get your vote in to the Hotline.
Now, my concern is this. I've got an A500 with A501 expansion. What
would be the best way to upgrade to 2 megs? I'm not holding my
breath on 5.0.x, but I would still like to know.

2389.6 | What do you have on it already? | GOBAMA::WILSONTL | Tony, the HOSS TRUMPET | Mon Oct 15 1990 17:34 | 8 |
| I currently have a M.A.S.T. Minimegs hanging off the far end which
works well (once I got the Escort Harddisk controller passthrough to
actually pass through). Given the new technology like Great Valley's
new controller box, I would recommend that. It somewhat depends on
what you already have on your 500.

I posted a request on the CompuServe WordPerfect B forum regarding the
status of the Amiga WordPerfect AmigaDos 2.0 compatibility update. I also
asked about the production of an Amiga WP 5.0/5.1 version. The following

Ok, time to start writing letters. Even if you don't use WP, it is a big
win for the Amiga if big developers support the machine...
anyone care to post a "form" letter?

WordPerfect v4.1.12 began shipping Monday, Jan. 21, 1991 with the
following added features:
Workbench 2.0 compatibility
Page preview (even shows headers before printing)
Additional printer drivers
Online status (shows codes before and after the cursor on status line)
FINALLY. No, it's not v5.0 or 6.0, and it's not the same as BSWord or
KoTex, but I know how to use it and it works just fine, thank-you.
