2380.1 | Memory two months ago | ENGLES::WARD | | Tue Mar 21 1989 09:35 | 4 |
| Last month it was $8+ for the slower TI chips. Some expansion boards
are finally being quoted. Compute your final expansion and decide
on crossover to 1meg chips via expansion if cost covers it. Some
expansions have adaptors for re-use in 2000 enclosure.

| RE 0.
I checked around about a month ago for an extra 512 for my A1000.
I took my Amigaworld and called every shop that had an 800 number
and found that the price is goin to be about 250-$300 for the add
on memory board and about the same for the chips. You can get the
board with 0K population and then hunt for your own memory or buy
it from them. I think the best price that I came up with was one
of the dealers had one for $450 with 1meg of memory. I also found
that alot of the times they have memory that they took in trade
on a A1000 that they are willing to let go for a cheaper price.
Best bet is to a AmigaWorld rag and just call all the dealers.
What the heck its their dime.

2380.4 | Time to make some add-on memory? | MTWAIN::WOODS | George Woods DTN 223-9971 | Thu Mar 23 1989 13:44 | 14 |
| Don, thanks for the up-to-date info. I had suspected that the prices
you were mentioning were the going prices based on what I'd seen.
I am not willing to spend $500 for 1/2M when I bought the whole
A1000 for $400! I may roll my own. A fellow Amiga user in ZK is
sending me a copy of an article on adding chips to the existing
board. Time to warm up the 100W Black Beauty and sizzle some chips!
I'll post a note if I actually do modify the A1000 and let you know
how things turn out. It won't be until at least April 15 (after
tax). In the meantime, I'd like to hear of anyone else's experience
with homebrew or modified memory for the A1000.

2380.5 | I to need to upgrade my A1000 | MTHOOD::KULINKKE | | Tue Aug 29 1989 18:06 | 12 |
| I to am looking to upgrade my A1000 memory to 1 Meg. If anybody
has info on a home brew upgrade I'm more than willing to give it
a shot. Send any info to MTHOOD::KULINKKE it will be greatly
appreciated. I also have a spare 1050 memory expansion module for
the A1000 and would be more than willing to sacrifice it if mounting
larger chips would work. I don't think there's enough address lines
there to address more than 256K though.
thanks for any help
