2375.0. "How to build your own MIDI interface." by FORTY2::TATHAM (Nick Tatham @REO) Mon Mar 20 1989 08:44

I have successfully built a Midi interface to my AMIGA 500. It works fine
between DMCS and my Yamaha keyboard.

The interface was based on a circuit diagram in an article in the UK
magazine ST/Amiga Format. The total cost was about 7.

If you are interested, press return for the circuit diagram

It was probably Oct-88 or Nov-88 - I borrowed it so can't find out easily -
I'll see what I can do.

2375.3Need help w/ transistor typeRGB::SCOTTWed Sep 12 1990 09:048
	(Belated) Thanks for posting this circuit. One question - could
you please give a hint as to what type of transistors are used? I don't
recognize the BC number. The info I'm looking for is: NPN or PNP, and
approximate gain.

My trusty Maplin catalogue lists BC547 as:

	      Case = TO92a
	      Type = NPN
	V-CEO(max) = 45 V
	V-CBO(max) = 50 V
	V-EBO(max) = 6 V
	   Ic(max) = 100 mA
	P-TOT(max) = 500 mW
	  Typ h-FE = 520 @ Ic = 2 ma
	   Typ f-T = 300 MHz
	     Price = 10 pence

h-FE is the gain isn't it? It also says that a BC547 is a BC107 in a
plastic case.

Hope this helps,

Nick

     Thanks much! It looks like a trusty 2N2222 will do just fine.

    Sorry if the first lead was a bum steer ,

    Looks like the old note has been revitalised though !!

	I have a Casio MT540 - bought a demo unit for $140. A couple of
months back, the MT240 was on sale at numerous places for $120 or so. That's
about the cheapest MIDI keyboard you can get! Damark also has the next
Casio model up from mine on sale for $199. (Just threw away my catalog,
so I don't have the details).

	Also check out the DNEAST::COMMUSIC conference for more MIDI info
than you probably want :-)
