2365.0. "Questions from a UK user" by WELSWS::FINNIS () Wed Mar 15 1989 07:52

Having recently aquired an Amiga 500 I have a load of questions
    to ask:-

    1. With reference to 2328, what is an OMTI 5520 is it available in
UK and how much.	I can onl find reference to a 3520 in
the NOTES and that states , that it is a SCSI to ST506..
does this mean that the controller in 2328 is a SCSI interface.

    2. I have just come off the phone to Commodore trying to get hold
of a copy of Autodocs and the Include Files (1.3), they told
me that it was only available to Developers. Is this only a
UK decision, does anyone else know where I can get a copy.

    3. Has anyone succeded in porting Sozobon C Compiler to the Amiga
yet.	I cannot afford Lattice 5.0 at present, and am tyring
to make do with PDC..(no offence intended).

    4. I intend to join an Amiga user group any references would be
    	appreciated.

    			Thanks in anticipation

(Sorry its the only one I know anything about)

The two largest computer groups for Amiga Users are:

    			1. Amiga User Group (AUG)
    				and
    			2. Independant Commodore Product Users Group

I cant comment very much on AUG but ICPUG are very good indeed.
Membership costs #13 a year and has many benefits. E.g If you send
blank discs to some of the members they will copy the P.D software
which they have onto it for you for free.
I'll post more info about the 2 groups tomorrow if I can remember
and if noone else but something else up.

If you mean the UKAUG I can give you some info. They have around 2500 members
They publish a bi-monthly newsletter which is full of software and hardware
reviews, ABasic hints etc. They have recently been running a MODULA-2 and
Assembler course. They also have 'discounted' h/w and s/w, although I've seen
better prices in the UK mags. I joined them when I first got my Amiga. They
regularly publish the content-lists of the Fish/Amicus disks (too regularly -
I think it's done more as a magazine-filler) and they have an extensive PD
library (#4/disk to members).

Membership runs from oct-sep and costs #20/year for UK based members.

I don't think that I'll be renewing my membership this year.
