Ok, finally I (and 5 friends of mine) made the decision to buy Supra 2400 Baud modems. It seems to be the best quality for a reasonable price. Because the modems here in Germany are much more expensive, a friend of mine is gonna buy them in USA. So US-Amiga folks please give me the adresses of good dealers, who have cheap prices (I heard the modem is about $139) and a quick order service. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks a lot! Bernhard

Doesn't the Bundespost object to use of such modems? I thought they had a monopoly on equipment connected to phone lines. Or has that changed? Paul | |||||

It probably has changed. Now modems and accoustic-couplers can be used if they have been tested by the Fernmeldetechnischen Zentralamt. If they work right on the German phone lines they get a ZZF-Number and you can legally use them on the phone net. Because this is a relativ new law and the Bundespost is working relativ slow - many modems haven't been tested yet. Networking in the USA is really much easier... Bernhard |
