2303.0. "Supra SCSI > OMTI 3520" by CGFSV2::CADAMS (Clint Adams - Calgary, Canada) Wed Mar 01 1989 12:51

Hi...

I remember seeing a favorable reference to a thing called an OMTI
3520 SCSI>ST506 Adapter in previous notes (not sure where). I am
interested in using one of these rather than the Adaptek ACB-4000
and was wondering how much they went for and who can supply them.

Also, I have come to own a Supra SCSI interface for the Amiga 500
and I have a couple of questions not dealt with in the users
guide. Why the 37 Pin connector out the back, it seems
non-standard. As well, were does this thing get it's power. I
thought it came in externally, if it does it would have to dome in
over the data cable somehow. If it gets it's power from the 500,
    how much does it draw.

I was thinking about a call to Supra, but thought if someone else
already has this information I can save the long distance charges.

    Thanks..... Clint

2303.1A partial answer to my own questions...CGFSV2::CADAMSClint Adams - Calgary, CanadaWed Mar 01 1989 14:1220
It never fails, ask a question and then you'll discover the answer
    yourself.

I had another look at the cable transition PCB (supplied with the
unit) that converts Supra's 37 Pin cable to the standard SCSI 50
Pin cable and noticed that the +5V (I assume this is what the
Supra requires) would be connected to a plate through on the PCB
which connects to five pins on the 37 pin cable to the Supra unit.
That would also explain the need for a 37 Pin connector,
considering five are required for power, the 25 pin cable probably
    would not work.

I am still interested to hear any information available on the
OMTI stuff as well as the Supra for that matter.

                                            Regards.... Clint
