I don't know any addresses in London to go to (I'm in Scotland)
but perhaps you may be better rushing in the other direction ? -
towards Reading ?? Any Reading Amigans out there ??
Alan T.
P.S. If not I'll have a look in some mags. for London addresses.

2297.2 | Reading???, try London (Oxford Street to be precise) | PUGH::8IAN | | Wed Mar 01 1989 09:45 | 20 |

I don't actually live in London (I live & work in Reading)but I
do know a few places where you can get an Amiga A500 without too
much difficulty. Your best bet is to go to:
Silica Shop in Selfridges (I think its the 3rd Floor) which is
in Oxford Street. They would supply an Amiga A500 with mouse, etc.
and 10 games (Barbarian, Ikari Warriers, Insanity fight, Thundercats,
Art of Chess, Wizball, Terrorpods, Buggy Boy & two more) plus a
modulator and Photon Paint. That costs around #399. If you also
want an Moniter it will cost another #250.
If I was you I would ring them up first to make sure they have
one in stock (Try 01-309-1111 [I know its the Sidcup Branch but I
ain't got the Selfridges number, ok?])

Isn't Oxford street next to Tottenham court road ?
I have a funny feeling I've been into Silica shop before .Arn't they
the crowd who have a full page colour ad in most of the computer mags.
If they are the shop I'm thinking of then they told me they only
do mail order...
I was in Tottenham court road / Oxford street area last year , while
visiting reading on a training course I was going to buy an Atari.
I went into this shop (I think it was silica shop) they had loads of
software and a bunch Atari's on demo. I flashed my few hundred notes
in eager anticipation , only to be told they do mail order only!!!
Thanx

Tottenham Court Road is the *best* place in London to buy an Amiga.
There are at least 10 shops that will take your money in exchange
for an Amiga. Shop around and find the best price though. A friend
of mine paid 365.00 for an Amiga + modulator + s/w.
If possible pay by cash, you'll get a bigger discount!!!

| I think you'll find that HI-Voltage is one of the bigger Amiga Dealers
in London. Not sure if they are on TC rd though. They offer B2000
at below 1000.
If I remember, I'll try to reply with their address.
Another place would be GB Computers (They have 3 shops on TC rd!).
I bought an A500 from them just after they were released. When the
A500 was selling for 499, I got it for 375!

If you go to a place in Southampton called MEGALAND you can get
an A500 and a Phillips 8833 moniter and also the gamespack I mentioned
in .2 for around #575 and less if you don't want a modulator. -Ian

Could anyone give me the dimensions of the box that the A500 comes
in ? I want to make allowances for travelling on the plane...
It will help me decide what size case or bag to bring ...
thanx
