| Yes, DOS-2-DOS on a 1000 external drive (R/W) works with 720K
off a PS/2 Model 80 created 3.5"
The MSDOS command is FORMAT B:/T:80/N:9 for eigthy tracks with
9 sectors per track. The 1.44M disk has 18 sectors per track.
ASCII files will fill-up a MS-DOS disk like this slightly faster
than the Amiga version.

| Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I meant... Can I buy an MSDOS
720K 3.5" disk drive and install it into my A2000 as DF1: ?
I was under the impression that Amiga drives were the same as those
used as 720K format drives in IBM/Clone machines. I believe the
720K vs 880K is simply due to software (No spacing between tracks
on the Amiga).

| re: .2
you are correct. Previous notes describe how to do that. Just
make sure you get a 720k drive, not a 1.44Meg drive.

I thought the info was in here somewhere, but I haven't been able to find
it. Any idea what note? I've tried meaningful title phrases and
keywords without any luck.
thanks,

2283.5 | need Autoconfig circuit also | SAUTER::SAUTER | John Sauter | Tue Feb 28 1989 10:26 | 5 |
| I don't think it's quite as simple as just installing the drive.
In order for the Amiga's auto-configuration software to work, the drive
must identify itself. There is a circuit you can build which will do
that.

He is talking about the A2000, which has the drive id circuit on
the motherboard for the second floppy. You need to put a jumper
plug on J301 to enable it.
Then set the drive select on the 2nd disk drive to be drive 1.
