2267.0. "CSA 68030 Amiga sighted!!" by HPSTEK::MYEE (Care about Ecology? Call 800-225-5333) Thu Feb 23 1989 11:56

    I just saw the Fastest Amiga ever!! I was a Amiga 2000 with:

    	*  CSA 68030 25Mhz
    	*  68882 math coprocessor 25Mhz
    	* Dragstrip 32 bit bus (I never heard of this one before)
    	*  140mb Maxtor Hard Drive

    I ran the DOC demo (bouncing balls and demons) on it and it screamed!!
    The music sounded like a 33rpm record played at 78rpm, and the
    animated balls were jittering instead of jumping. I guess the 25Mhz
    68030 was overdriving the blitter. I also ran the Wild Copper Demo
    on it. It was fast! But since the graphics are more complicated
    to generate (i.e. rotating text), it looked smooth instead of jittery.
    It's kind of fitting running the Wild Copper Demo on this machine,
    because the demo writer's claim to have the fastest Amiga in Europe.
    And I was running on one of the fastest Amiga in the US. This Amiga
    also will do a full screen high res mandelbrot in about 11secs.

    I bet your wondering where did I see such an animal?

    Answer: at Soft Designs in Belmont, MA. It is a small family run
    operation, but they have full line of Amiga software. I did not
    see very much hardware (i.e. digitizer, Hard disk), but they have
    3 Amiga on display for demos (an A2000 w/ CSA 68030, an A2000 w/ CSA
    68020, and an A500 w/ 1meg).  They also have a Amiga 1000, but with
    no monitor attached. I dropped off copies of the Walker Demo II,
    and some Dr. Gandalf demos there including "Not Boing Again", this
    years winner of the Badge Killer Demo contest (funniest demo catagory).
    I better finish up, before I lose my network link. If you want
    more info on this setup, Soft Designs number is (617) 489-4056 and
    ask for John Malloy. John is really a nice guy, and has done demos
    for a MIT purchase of Amigas.
