2228.1 | RD's were MFM | DPDMAI::ANDERSONA | | Sun Feb 12 1989 10:19 | 9 |
| The RD series drives (RD50 thru RD54) were all ST506/ST412 MFM types.
The new RZ type drives are SCSI drives but I do not have any info
as to the type of interface (pinouts, cable size, number of conductors
etc). All I have seen were sales brochures. They sound good but
since it is a new product employee purchase will probably be a ways
down the road.

The new RZ products are all ANSI SCSI-1 conforming devices. All use the
50 pin single ended cable (as opposed to differential or Apple's 25 pin SCSI)
RZ22 52mb , 3.5"
RZ23 104mb, 3.5"
RZ55 332mb, 5.25" full height. This drive will also do Synchronous transfer
(4mb/sec transfer rate)

2228.3 | A500 and RZxx compatability ? | GIDDAY::ASHLEYM | | Sat Nov 04 1989 06:54 | 4 |
| What would be needed to connect these drives (DEC RZxx) (note .2)
to the amiga. Specifically an A500, is the RZxx bus as wide as the
A500's SCSI port (being pretty knew to the Amiga I assume that the A500
SCSI port is eight bits wide).

Yes,all DEC RZxx drives are 8 bit SCSI. RZ55,56,24 support synchronous
transfers as well.

The A500 doesn't have a SCSI port. You can purchase a SCSI host
adapter such as the C-Ltd. SCSI adapter (this is what I have.) It
works perfectly well with just about any SCSI disk including the RZxx
series of drives (once you enable them to spin up on power up as is
described in another note.)
