Hello all. I downloaded BERSERK.ARC from TAPE::USER1:[AMIGA.ARC] and am confused. What is it? I try to run it and it says it's not an object module. Is it a movie or something? I thought it was Berserk as in the game. Any help here would be nice... On another note, has anyone gotten PLAY to work (playing SMUS files)? I had this on my hard disk and when I give it a file it says error opening, as if the file wasn't there. I've tried everything from quotes to explcit paths..no luck. PLAY is in (?) TAPE::USER1:[AMIGA.SMUS] Thanks George

Berserk is a graphical DEMO. And a neat one at that. BERSERK.ARC is an Archive, meaning it contains (in compressed format) all the files related to the Berserk demo. You need the ARC program to unpack all the files. So start with a NOTES> DIR/TITLE=ARC (and /TITLE=DOWNLOAD etc...). Read all 1001 notes on the subject then, if you still can't get it to work, ask again :-) Seriously, there is more information in the notes you'll find then I can type here. John
2208.2 | You may need ShowANIM | LEDS::ACCIARDI | Tue Feb 07 1989 08:18 | 10
Berserk is an animation created with Videoscape 3D. The animation itself is not an axecutable; you need a viewer to play it. The Videoscape viewers ares called 'ShowANIM' and may or may not be included in the archive. Be warned that there are several versions of ShowANIM, but I believe that they're all backwards compatible. Ed.

PLAY is used to play Sonix (.SMUS) scores. There are some good ones on the net. One place is on CGOU01 in a directory like [AMIGA.MUSIC.SONIX] or something like that. Anyway, to play a song you need to put all of its instruments in a directory and do "PLAY song.smus i=directory". That should work if ALL the instruments that the song wants is in that directory. I have a program that you can give it an SMUS song file and it tells you the instruments it will need. Yell if you want it uploaded, I'm not sure if it is on the net. ...richard |
