2115.0. "Brother M1509 printer problem" by CADSYS::MURATORI (Rich) Fri Jan 13 1989 13:30
Does anyone out there use a Brother M1509 printer with their Amiga? I
have so far been unsuccessful at getting mine to print graphics. Here
is my situation: I've set all the printer's DIP switches to the prescribed
settings for emulating an Epson FX-100 printer. I am using a parallel
connection. I select the EpsonX printer driver in Preferences. Printing
text works fine. When I attempt to print graphics, say from DeluxePaint
or Kindwords, all I get is one 'band' of graphics printout. The printer
then hangs, causing a printer trouble message box to appear.
I talked with someone at Omnitek in Tewksbury where they sell this printer
with Amigas. This person claimed that if I clicked on resume, the printing
would proceed but I would have to continually do so until the printing
was completed. He said I could prevent this by changing a DIP switch
setting which specifies the printer buffer use. This would slow down the
print speed however. He stated that the problem consisted of the printer's
buffer filling up and the system trying to send more data before the buffer
was emptied (no XON/XOFF? doesn't make sense to me). Anyway, I tried resuming
and it didn't work. I tried changing the switch setting and it didn't seem
to make a difference.
I am hoping someone else has this printer and has gotten it to work correctly.
I appreciate any help or suggestions.
