< HELP > I'm trying to decide what AMIGA to buy...??? Is there anybody in LONDON or England who can help me find the best place with the best price I don't want to spend more than about 500. I don't mind a second-hand AMIGA with or without software and would prefer the system to have a monitor and a printer Is THIS a reasonable request???? What AMIGA could I get for this? Would it be better to try and get an A2000 rather than an A500? The computer shops near me don't seem to care wether they sell the computer system to me. Thanks for your help Steve G. Hi Steve, although I'm not actually in England (I'm in France at the moment) maybe I can give you some help... I remember that a place called LAN COMPUTERS in Romford had the best deals on Amigas a while back. They have several starter kits; from memory (a very poor one!) they went something like this; A500 Kit 1: A500 with DPAINT, some PD, a TV modulator and a couple of games (around) #350 A500 Kit 2: A500 with DPAINT, some PD, a 1084 monitor and a couple of games (around) #500 A500 Kit 3: A500 with DPAINT, some THE WORKS (Spreadsheet, Database and Word-processor package) a 1084 monitor and a STAR NL10 dot-matrix printer + some PD (around) #700 I've read that prices have dropped since then, so give them a call. Sorry, I don't have the tel. nos. but try directory enquiries or better still, buy yourself a copy of "AMIGA USER" or "YOUR AMIGA" for the latest ad's. If these prices are out of your range, both of the aforementioned mags carry ad's from people who want to sell their old machines. I would say go for an A500 first as an A2000 starts at around #995 just for the box (monitor, h/disk, extra drive about #700). Keith | |||||

Hi Keith, Thanks for the info. I will try to find the No. for LAN Computers. Having now had a better demo at a larger company I think that the A500 is the best machine for me at the moment. I was also told that the prices have just GONE UP. So I hope to get a good deal soon. Regards Steve G. |
