2088.0. "Trouble with ICONS?" by SPIDER::LONG () Fri Jan 06 1989 21:54

It's been a long week, so forgive me if this sounds like a brain dead
question.
I have a project icon :a/b/c/foo.info. In the same directory is an
animation called foo. No cross combination of attempts at playing with the
default tool is able to give me the same effect as typing
	:c/display :a/b/c/foo (from another directory)
or :c/display foo (from the :a/b/c directory)

I seem to only get the equivalent of ":c/display" or "error opening
:c/display foo:"

What am I missing (besides brain cells)?
	Thanks,
		Dick

I think you just want ":c/display" in the default tool type. It appends the
name of the file whoose icon you selected automatically, so to speak.

That was one of the trys I made. Anybody have any experience with utilities
that can't be run from workbench this way?

Re: .2

Was the error "Cannot open tool :c/display"?

Did you try changing the default tool to c:display?

Not really, I get the default tool but "display" doesn't know about
my file associated with the icon. The problem is that I don't seem
to be able to get the icon to pass the filename to "display" the same way I
can from CLI.

Project icons only work if the application was designed to run that way.
The argument is passed differently than with a CLI command interface.

You may have to use IconX, tho it may not meet your needs either.
