2062.0. "Amiga deals" by USRCV1::HOLTJ () Thu Dec 29 1988 14:53

A local dealer is offering an Amiga 2000HD (which includes 1 mb RAM, 1
floppy, 40 Mbyte, 28 ms {auto booting} hard disk) for $1,895. I think this
is a good deal, therefore I will try to sell my 2 month old, 1mb A500.

Currently my questions are:

Is $1,900 a good price for the A2000 mentioned above?

How much can I get for my A500?

I will be grateful for any input...

how much is that dealer selling the Amiga 2000 for? The HD is just
the 28ms 40Meg harddisk and the CBM harddisk controller. $1600
seems to be the cheapest price for the A2000 I've found around here.
That would make it $300 for a nice harddisk setup. Nice price.

Is it used or is he on drugs? Are you sure this isn't a TYPO on
the price? Who is this dealer?

The price of $1,899 is the price as quoted. He is willing to attempt
to do better on an order involving multiple machines.

My dealer called to tell me that the Amiga 2000 HD offer was part
of a DEALER purchase plan which will allow a dealer to purchase
2 machines at $1,995. His final retail price will be $2,495; however,
he will sell the first 2 systems at $1,995...

Just a bit of second-hand info. A local who just bought an A2000
for $1500.00 swears he saw a dealer invoice which placed the dealer
price at $12xx.xx. Of course, a dealer's going to go out of business
if he sells for too close to that price, but it's interesting to
get info on how much your dealer's making off of the sale.

With that in mind, $1995 for a 2000HD sounds good. I'm scraping
up money to buy even now, but I doubt I'll have it in time to catch
    this deal.

You still haven't said who this dealer is or is it a secret. I'm
looking for a 2000 and I have the money to buy.

reg .4 :

I (as perhaps many others) would very much like to join in a group purchase
of A2000HD, with configuration specified in .0, at the suggested price of
$1900. Perhaps, the dealer may give us a group discount if about 5 or more
of us negotiated with the dealer, together as a group.

Pl. consider my proposal and respond asap. I can hardly wait to get my hands
on this neat little toy.

2062.8maybe a cheaper and better configuration...DIXIE1::MCDONALDSurly to bed, surly to rise...Mon Jan 23 1989 00:1724
IF we can get an A2000HD for $1995, then count me in also... however,
I'm not holding my breath about it. I've been doing a lot of pricing
lately, and A2000HD's seem to be running at around $2400.00 mail
    order.

However, if you're really looking, you can get an A2000 with the
GVP 11ms 40mb hardcard for $2258.00 fromGO AMIGA. If you order a
multisync monitor with it, the price of the system drops by $60.00.
Problem is, the only multisync monitors they said they have are the
    Sony 1302 & 1303 ($729.00 and $519.00 respectively) which seem to
have compatibility problems with the Amiga, and the NEC multisync II,
which seems to be a good monitor, but costs $649.00. BTW, monitor
cables are $35.00, and shipping is $30.00 by ground or $90.00 by
    air.

I doubt that GO AMIGO would give a group discount, especially if
the systems were being shipped to different places, but then again,
you never know 'til you ask. If anybody expresses interest, I'll
call them back next week after I get back from my class. (That
should give my DCU VISA time to arrive. Their 10.9% APR is making
    this somewhat less painful. ;-)
