2054.0. "PCcopy and PCformat" by MTWAIN::MACDONALD (WA1OMM 7.093/145.05/223.58 AX.25) Wed Dec 28 1988 14:46

    I am using the 3.5" floppy patch on the Amiga V1.3 Extras disk PCcopy
    and PCformat programs. The one drawback though is that the programs
    format only to 360K. Does anyone know if there is a patch that would
    allow formatting to 720K to make it more compatible size-wize with
    my laptop PC?

If somebody has sources for these patches, I'd be willing to give it a shot.
I keep running into occasions where I need to read PS/2 or Toshiba 3.5" disks
with the latest "BUG FREE" ;^} control software from vendors. and can't
always get access to a laptop when I need it. Come to think of it, I can't
get access to my Amiga half the time either - but that's a different story.

2054.2Look at transactorGLORY::SPATOULASGeorge Spatoulas @FACThu Dec 29 1988 19:4321

There was an interesting article on the last (3rd issue of Amiga
transactor) on the issue of Bridgecard.

You have the same problem when you attach the 1020 on the Bridge side and
try to format a 3.5 disk for 720K. The answer to this problem was
suggested to use:

	driveparm=/D:01 /F:02 /H:2 /S:9 /T:80

on the config.sys file.

Now the PC utils I would try to use /H:02 /S:9 /T:80 params since this is the
difference for the 720K formated drives.

I hope it helps. I have not had the chance to use the PCutils yet.

Sorry I do not know what happened to my reply but here it again.

The MS-DOS system, looks for a file called "config.sys" in your default
directory (or COMSPEC has it defined as), if that file exists will define
system parameters as they are defined in that file. This is the file you
specify how many files do you want to have open at once (i.e. files = 30 )
or how many buffers do you want on your system, or you can specify to use
the ANSI.SYS for screen handling.

In that file you can pur the parameters as described on the -.2 reply.

I hope this help.
