2036.0. "FrameGrabber" by LEDS::ACCIARDI (Man Dies Laughing - Film at 11:00) Mon Dec 26 1988 00:06
I'm damned if I could find where this topic left off, so I guess
I'll start a new topic...
Someone was inquiring about frame grabbers a while bac . These
devices are supposed to digitize a live external video image to your
Amiga's memory in real time.
Harv Laser (senior Chairman of the AmigaZone on PLINK) has posted
an image that he grabbed from his VCR with PP&S's FrameGrabber.
The image is a 320 x 400 HAM shot (sounds dirty, huh?) of a CNN
news anchorman. I think you'll agree that the results are astonishing.
Actually, I've seen better examples of PP&S's box, but this is the
only image in my possession for now... By the way, the street price
for this box is around $500.
The image was captured in 1/30 of a second and some titles were
added with PhotonPaint from MicroIllusions.
The file is called FGRABPIC.ARC and has been temporarily placed
in NORSE""::AMIGA:[UPLOAD]. I've suggested that Martin move it
over to the GRAPHICS section at his convenience. The file format
is 128 byte fixed length records, suitable for XMODEM downloading.
Note: I don't own a PP&S FrameGrabber, and this isn't a product
endorsement, but the possiblities for this type of device
seem staggering. And the legal implications seem staggering
also. How will copyrighted material be handled?
