1984.2 | A start... | BIGVAX::WARD | | Mon Dec 12 1988 12:48 | 6 |
| HD is a Hard Disk version. See note# 1270 for European announcement
of other models. I have no idea as to final details, await news
on the 2500 model (608020, 32 bit memeory, System III UNIX (UX))
There is some notes on buyer help (1524 and others).

1984.3 | Just a package deal | TLE::RMEYERS | Randy Meyers | Mon Dec 12 1988 17:31 | 12 |
| Re: .1
The other Amiga 2000 models are nothing more than a standard Amiga 2000
with optional hardware or software bundled with the system.
So a 2000HD is just an Amiga 2000, a Commodore 2090a disk controller
card, and a hard disk. You could buy all the parts separately and
put them together yourself if you wished. The package deal may
be cheaper, or just more convenient.
So if you buy a 2000HD, and then wish you had bought the 2000UX, you
could upgrade by buying the 68020 card and a Commodore Unix license.

1984.4 | CBM A2500.UX has been advertised | GIDDAY::BAKER | What's 200yrs/40000yrs fellas? | Tue Dec 13 1988 19:56 | 27 |
| Commodore have been putting 4 page, full-colour, outer-cover
advertising for Amigas in the Australian Computerworld.
On the back page, along with every other PC they make for the "Business
Space" is:
" CBM A2500.UX
The new CBM A2500.UX brings UNIX System V, release 3, Version
1 performance to the single user in a desktop at a very competitive
price.
It uses a paged virtual memory management model allowing for virtual
address space of a gigabyte. A responsive windowing system that
fully uses the special purpose AMIGA hardware has been implemented.
.M68020 at 14.3MHz, backup processor 68000 at 7.16MHz
.1Mb 16 bit RAM plus 2Mb 32 bit memory
.2 x 3.5" 880k Floppy Disk Drive
.1 x 100Mb Hard Disk
"
This was late September that these adverts started.
As Randy said, these are repackaging of the A20000 with extra cards
ect. I do not doubt for a moment that I would be met with a NYET
if I went to my local dealer and asked to see one or tried to buy
one.
Certainly telephone enquiries have been less than fruitful.

| backup processor at 7.16Mhz??????
Interesting way of wording it. Does that mean it isn't a coprocessor,
only a backup if your 68020 dies?
