1962.0. "New files on WJG::AMIGA:" by WJG::GUINEAU () Wed Dec 07 1988 08:32

Un SHARed then ARCed from USENET comp.sources.amiga :

WJG::AMIGA:

SHELL.ARC	This is the Matt Dillon/Steve Drew SHELL v3.01A source and docs
TAIL.ARC	Program to look at end (tail) of files
NULL.ARC	This is a NULL: device for Amiga similar to NIL:
REGEXP.ARC	C routines to allow programs to use GREP pattern matching
		NOTE: I had to rename a file in the SHAR archive to get
			it on VMS. REGEXP.LIB.UUE is called REGEXP_LIB.UUE
		Also note that Lattice V5.0 has this same capability built
		in!!

1962.2Snipit 1.2WJG::GUINEAUMon Dec 12 1988 09:3041
MOre USENET sources stuff.

WJG::AMIGA:

SNIPIT12.ARC Latest vesion of that fantastic mouse cut/paste
				utility.

Here's the README:

                   - SnipIt 1.2 -

    SnipIt is an input handler wedge which allows
    you to clip text from any window, and then paste
    that text anywhere, as though you had typed it
    on the keyboard.

    New in SnipIt 1.2 are the following:

    o Now attempts to work in all windows and consoles.
      P-Edit and VT100 now can be snipped from.

    o Automatically detaches itself and runs in the
      background- no Run/RunBack required.

    o Built-in mini help (type: snipit h).

    o Keyboard option to insert a short string at the
      beginning of each pasted line.

    o Options to move/adjust/correct snip/recognizer cell
      area independently for consoles and windows.

    o Can recognize highlighted text.

    o Option to freeze window layer while snipping.

    I probably should start a separate note for this but...

    Has anyone actually used Snipit 1.2? The docs say you don't need
    runback, but the CLI hangs after running it.

    I.E.

    amigashell> Snipit
    amigashell> endcli >nil:

    Hangs the CLI (also hangs with "Snipit >nil: <nil:").

    Also, Snipit does not work anymore when used with runback. You can cut
    text once then it is gone...

    I must be doing something wrong. The docs say you don't need runback.
    So, how can I put this in my startup and not have the original CLI
    hang?

    - steve

    BTW Finally, when I allowed the cli to hang around and used Smokey,
        I was able to cut text from it but I did not get the correct
        text! I used "Snipit y -1". Looks like the Smokey keymap is
        significantly different from Topaz. Oh well...
1962.6SHELL.ARC Compiled ???GLORY::SPATOULASGeorge Spatoulas @FACTue Dec 13 1988 09:569
