When I upgraded from a 1000 to a 2000, all I needed was a new serial
cable, since the gender was wrong on the Amiga 1000 end. Since only
four lines are used to power a modem, I made my own with a few dollars
worth of radio shack parts.
The monitor and floppy connectors are identicle.
My printer cable (parallel) plugged right into the A2000, if memory
serves me.

Thanks Ed.
I knew if I waited long enough for a 2000, you would get the bugs
worked out of it. ( Better than the early days of the 1000 when
we all had our scopes out trying to figure out why we were eating
modems with the power lines on the connectors! )

Dick: I forgot to mention that the Software Shop threw in an adaptor
to install my StarboardII into the A2000. Moe gave it to me as
a freebie, but I believe it's about $40. (Unbelievable for a simple
card with a connector and some etch)
The Starboard performed flawlessly in the A2000 with my C Ltd SCSI
controller. However, once I installed the CMI Processor Accelerator,
the machine wouldn't boot. A call to CMI confirmed that the problem
was in the CMI board, not the Starboard. I resolved the problem
by swapping the Starboard for a Commodore 2 meg board. Now everything
runs fine. CMI has allegedly fixed their Processor Accelerator,
but I never bothered to upgrade since everything plays well together
now.

| For anybody that has to do this in the future, the sex of the serial and
parallel ports changed , also the parallel port has moved the +5V line AND
THE @#@$% RESET LINE!!! ( hopefully your printer cable will have a solderless
shell like mine did so that you can just rearrange lines - good thing I had
some technical manuals for the 1000 )
The adaptor to put a StarBoard in a 2000 is a piece of cake but it should be
put in the first slot so it can hang over unslotted space and not block any
slots. ( about $40 from the Software Shop )
Standard cables for an ST506 drive as in all DEC equipment ( about $20 from
the Software Shop )
