1858.0. "reviews of some new games" by BAGELS::BRANNON (Dave Brannon) Mon Nov 07 1988 17:59

    reviews of some new games:

Captain Blood very strange game, looks exactly like the ST version.
You're wandering the universe, dealing with the natives
of many planets, hunting for clues to help you find
your missing clones. There is a time limit, you
grow weaker the longer you've been separated from
your clones (your mouse pointer is a skinny arm that
shakes as you get weaker, making it harder to control
                   the game)

Hybris nice music, standard shoot and dodge. Sidewinder has better
graphics, but Hybris lets you restart from where you died
instead of at the beginning. Very copy-protected

Pioneer Plague cover says "first HAM mode game". Very nicely done,
but they need to work on the HAM part (too fuzzy)
uses keyboard, mouse, and joystick. Not copy-protected.
They have some mylar overlays that you sometimes
will need during the game (navigation aids for when
                    computer has been damaged)
The goal is stop the plague. The plague was created
to terraform planets. It mutated. It's spreading
over the universe (it builds it's own spaceships,
                    fighers, bombs, etc.)
I love it. It has lots of things to blow up on
each planet, very smooth scrolling in any direction,
nice background music, and good explosions.
