HOW DO YOU GET COLOR ON THE BRIDGECARD ???? I finally got the Bridgecard (It was ONLY 11 months back ordered ! ! ! ) and I am trying to set the color window. Soo.. following the instructions.. (strange ??) it says open a mono window and type the mode cmd.. so I type "mode co80" and I get a not available option ... so it does not let me open a color window. Any ideas ????? I have not tried to set the jumpers on the card yet. Thanks in advance. george_a_very_upset_commodore_user.

On my system, I have two icons in the PC drawer, PCmono and PCcolor. I can start up straight away in a CGA screen by double clicking PCcolor. I don't have to use the co80 command. Colin

1822.3 | Hardware problems ? | JGO::CHAPMAN | Mon Oct 31 1988 04:15 | 21
My machine is on loan to a friend at the moment. I should get it back tomorrow, so will drop a note then with my PCprefs settings. However i don't remember doing anything fancy - in fact I don't remember setting anything! I have to say though that I have had a lot of problems with my card. Curiously, I bought it exactly 11 months ago. It was available of the shelf here (Holland), no problem. It has been back three times with a variety of problems that caused guru crashes and (I think) a few times just freezing. I had the memory on the board changed, another time I hasd the chips all reseated, and another time I had the chips on my expansion memory replaced. The last I couldn't understand at all - I don't see how the PC side can see it, but I tested it myself. Without the board, the PC side ran. With it, the PC side behaved strangely as above, yet there was no obvious problem on the Ami side. (The board is the 512K in the CPU slot as I have an A2000). Bottom line, check whether removing any of your expansion cards helps. Colin

Tanks for your comments. In the mean time I took out the card and I reset the Jumper switches for standard color. I also just puched all the chips on the board (I do not if it helped). The final result is that now I am in the color mode all the time. This is what I wanted any way. RE .1 : About your problems, it sounds funny but I had the whole machine freeze twice so far. Have you find out why this happens. george :-)
1822.5 | DATE/ TIME then-> MODE CO80 | CESARE::ZABOT | Marco Zabot-Adv.Tech.mgr-Turin ACT | Wed Nov 02 1988 10:15 | 10 |
I have the bridgecard installed since the beginning and had no problems. I use the default switches settings. When you select the COLOR PC, the first things the Ms-dos asks you is date and time. If the system is defaulted b&w you won't see the request that MUST be ansewred ( twice return ?! ) BEFORE sending the MODE CO80 command. If this is ( was ) your problem can easily be checked by openinc PCcolor doing what ever you like , close the window and reopen BWpc. Now you should be able to see all the hidden dialog ( date/time etc...) marco |
