1809.0. "Help! 1080 monitor for TV?????" by EUCLID::OWEN (O.K. Edge, Play the blues!) Mon Oct 24 1988 12:52

    This is my delima (sp?)....

I have an amiga 1080 monitor, and a cable box with a Coax output.
The cable broadcasts to Ch 2 of a normal TV.

Can anyone suggest a cheap way that I can watch TV through my monitor.
I have seen a TV tuner at my local amiga store, but that may mean
no cable, or I could use a VCR as a go-between, but then again,
    a vcr ain't that cheap!

    Help.... 8^(

1809.1not difficult for video partRAVEN1::EVERHARTMon Oct 24 1988 13:0011
I have managed to do this using a converter plug for the coax cable.
I just converted it into RCA miniplug (I think that's what it is)
and plugged it straight into the video jack on the back of my computer.
Then, I flipped the switch next to the volume control on my monitor
all the way to the left. The sad part about this is, I don't remember
what I did to get sound. I think I used a VCR for that part.
Somewhere, I have the schematics for a stereo decoder that would
probably give you sound. Don't know where they are, though.

Sorry, the video jack is on the back of my MONITOR, not computer.
(I have the flu. Can I use that as an excuse?)

I've got a Sony Receiver/TV tuner that I use for my Amiga. It is
really nice to have everything you need in one box. (Stereo sound
for the Amiga, TV, and FM) I paid $100 for it at a surplus store,
I dont know if Sony still makes such a beast.
