This is my delima (sp?).... I have an amiga 1080 monitor, and a cable box with a Coax output. The cable broadcasts to Ch 2 of a normal TV. Can anyone suggest a cheap way that I can watch TV through my monitor. I have seen a TV tuner at my local amiga store, but that may mean no cable, or I could use a VCR as a go-between, but then again, a vcr ain't that cheap! Help.... 8^( Steve O

1809.1 | not difficult for video part | RAVEN1::EVERHART | Mon Oct 24 1988 13:00 | 11
I have managed to do this using a converter plug for the coax cable. I just converted it into RCA miniplug (I think that's what it is) and plugged it straight into the video jack on the back of my computer. Then, I flipped the switch next to the volume control on my monitor all the way to the left. The sad part about this is, I don't remember what I did to get sound. I think I used a VCR for that part. Somewhere, I have the schematics for a stereo decoder that would probably give you sound. Don't know where they are, though. - Chris

re .1 Sorry, the video jack is on the back of my MONITOR, not computer. (I have the flu. Can I use that as an excuse?) - Chris

re .0 I've got a Sony Receiver/TV tuner that I use for my Amiga. It is really nice to have everything you need in one box. (Stereo sound for the Amiga, TV, and FM) I paid $100 for it at a surplus store, I dont know if Sony still makes such a beast. Robb |
