1769.0. "ADAUG" by AYOV10::ATHOMSON (C'mon, git aff! /The Kelty Clippie) Wed Oct 12 1988 12:03

    The following is a mail I've sent out to all known Amiga owners
    in the Ayr site. I'm posting it here just in case there is anyone
    else that I've missed.

Proposing the creation of a new Amiga user group.

Ayr and District Amiga Users Group (ADAUG)

As there are now (at least) six people on the Ayr site with Amigas and some of
us are in contact with a couple more outside Digital, there are now probably
enough people to make it worthwhile forming a small UG.

I would propose that the primary purposes of this group are kept simple at this
early stage, namely, for example;

		1. Bulk buying (mainly disks)

		2. Shared PD library.

		3. Help and advice.

In the future, (once we start collecting membership fees) perhaps we could
purchase some hardware (e.g. a 5 disk drive, modem, colour printer etc.) to be
available on loan from the group ? or purchase PD disks to add to the library ?

I think that it is to our benefit to keep this group separate from Digital so I
do not intend to approach personnel (Sports & Social) as I think that the
external (to digital) members would be too valuable a resource to exclude.

I do not want the group to be very formal (yet), it should just be a bunch of
people with a shared interest (i.e. no chairman, secretary, treasurer etc.)

The group will not condone illicit software copying and is absolutely not
formed for this purpose. Any members who may indulge, do so entirely of their
own volition and at their own risk.

Tell your friends, tell people who don't have an Amiga but may be interested,
tell everyone.... the more the merrier.

If you are interested in joining, let me know and I'll organise a meeting
somewhere to get us started (probably a pub somewhere in Ayr, or someone's
house.) This will allow us to meet each other, discuss the aims of the group,
and generally just get the thing off the ground.

       Looking forward to hearing from you,

					Alan Thomson.
