1766.0. "Nashua Store open" by CRISTA::LEIMBERGER (I have my marbles now I want yours) Wed Oct 12 1988 09:17

I was excited to see that a new store was opening up in nashua N.H. .
a couple of us went over at lunch to check it out,and it looks good.
You can buy disks for 1.50 and copy PD stuff, the supply of software was
looking good.not only games but plenty of productivity software.I even
saw a copy of Comic Setter from Gold disk. The store is "System Eyes"
and is on 101A in Penachuk square.

I was there yesterday and was quite inpressed. I talked at length
with the guy who owns the store and he seems VERY comitted to stocking
what his customer's want (i.e. he'll listen to your suggestions).
Although there's plenty of stuff on the shelves now he says that
he's still in the process of stocking up. Also they are an authorized
Amiga repair shop. A trip down 101A sure beats a trip to Salem,
    Tewksbury or Wellsley!!

I haven't yet visited the store, so I don't know their telephone
number, but I live just 2.5 miles away, so I'm sure to get there
    pretty soon.

Here are directions: North on route 3 to exit 7 or 8. Exit 7W takes
you to route 101A going towards Merrimack, Amherst and Milford.
Exit 8 bypasses some traffic lights and drops you onto 101A; turn
right to head for Merrimack, etc. Just after you cross the Merrimack
town line you will encounter a small shopping center called Pennachuck
Square on your right. The large building at the East end has a
Friendlies store at the front; the large building at the West end
contains a bank. You can turn in at the center of the square, or
proceed to the stop light, turn right, and enter from the West side.
I am told that the Amiga store is near the West end of the shopping
center. They conform to local custom by being open late on Thursdays.

If you encounter a tall Post Road Plaza sign on the left you have
    gone one stoplight too far.

The phone number of the "System Eyes" is (603) 889-1234.

System Eyes: what a weird name.

At my son's insistence, I visited the store last night. They were
closed when we arrived, but they very kindly let us in. I talked
to Steve Yanco while my son played Rocket Ranger. They give the
usual 10-15% discount on software, and seem to have a good selection.
They don't have much hardware, but are willing to bring some in
for demos---I told Steve that if I was going to buy through him
instead of mail-order, I wanted to try it before buying it. They
are looking for a super VHS Genlock for me.

Steve said they should have 1.3 in "next week". I'm not holding
    my breath.

Steve also claimed to have worked for DEC for 10 years, and to have
consulted for DEC for 5 years before that. Does anybody here remember
him? His full name is Stephen M. Yanco.

I won't be spending much time in the store---Steve and his partner
both smoke, and I can't stay very long in a hole-in-the-wall store
under those conditions. However, if they can get their hands on
a Genlock I'll definitely subject myself to their atmosphere to
see if I can get good color from the beast.

I am not an unbiased source of information about this store, since
my wife has applied for a job there. My daughter works at the
Friendlies in the same shopping center, by a curious coincidence.
