| Thanks, anyway, but it fails VMSSWEEP, so I won't bother moving
it. My experience (somewhat limited) has been that files that fail
vmssweep fail to load with xmodem.

re: .1
That's funny. I uploaded this file via XMODEM. And I can DE-ARC
it using the VMS version of ARC.EXE. The VMSSWEEP program fails
on some files known to be good (my first time using this program).
I use the ZMODEM protocal (SZ.EXE), and PROTOCOMM terminal emulator
to download from the VAX. ZMODEM is faster than XMODEM and never
had a problem.

1762.3 | Use CVTARC then VMSSWEEP | CAMONE::ARENDT | DDT - The first and still the best | Mon Oct 10 1988 17:41 | 5 |
| I copied Jessica.arc to my system and then used CVTARC V JESSICA.ARC
command to convert it for kermit download. I then used VMSSWEEP
no problem.

| Oh. Guess who never caught on to what CVTARC was doing, and never
connected the discussions of Kermit/fixed length vs. XMODEM/stream_LF?
Thanks for helping me understand.
Guess I could get ZOO2 now, and SOUNDS, and .....

I downloaded Jessica and it ran fine. Nice digitized sound, but the
images looked too 'pixelized' to me. Maybe it was post-processed to
death by PixMate. Anyway, I've yet to be much impressed by any LIVE!
images that I've seen.
I did see a 'grabbed' image of shuttle Discovery launching, and
it was pretty good. I think it was done with PP&S's FrameGrabber.

| I downloaded Jessica and tried it. It ran for a couple of seconds
and gurued. Is that MOVIE's gentle way of suggesting I buy more
memory? I've got a meg.

running Movie.

| I've had problems in the past with Movie guru's. Sometimes a
movie would run, and at another time, the same movie, under what
would appear to be the same conditions, would not run. The cure
was to set stack for a minimum of 10000 or so. I never experienced
any Movie related guru's after that. I don't believe that this
Movie prerequisite is documented anywhere, but if you don't do it
strange things do happen. I also have a 1 Mb machine.

Does anyone have the sources to the MOVIE program and/or the file formats
used? I'd like to atempt a port to "other" hardware...
Thanks in advance, and sorry if this question has been asked before!

1762.11 | Demo seems awfully short to me? | CAM::ARENDT | DDT - The first and still the best | Wed Nov 02 1988 13:12 | 8 |
| Just got around to downloading and running this Demo. I am not
sure if it is running properly, it runs for about 10 seconds and
the character says "I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way." then
the demo stops. It doesn't guru it just goes back to the workbench
screen. I tried setting the stack at 10,000 and 100,000 to no avail.
Is the demo this short?

1762.16 | Just curious. | TEACH::BOB | Bob Juranek EKO/339-4312 | Mon Nov 07 1988 09:02 | 7 |
| Nothing is happening ....yet. It's not been d/l'd. Seems that
most of these neat demos comming out nowadays require a meg or more
so I don't even bother to bring them over. I'll try it tonight.
Thanks.
