1751.0. "Trek a la DEC-20?" by SSDEVO::YESSE (Computing at 6200 ft.) Thu Oct 06 1988 14:37
Seeing the Star Trek special ("From one Generation to the Next") last night,
got me to thinking about this..
All you former DEC-20 users, does there exist a port of the old "Trek"
game (under Tops-20) on the Amiga? I don't mean the fancied-up versions
like VTTrek or what have you, but the 'generic' version that had, I think,
64 quadrants of the galaxy, each divided into a 10x10 square. You could
choose from 3 levels of difficulty, and gave it commmands like 'M 0 .5'
to move north half a quadrant. I never found a truly equivalent version
on the Vax. Am I ringing any bells?
If this doesn't exist on Amy, I'd be much obliged if a source were located
so I could get to work on an Amiga version. Yes, this is an oldie with no
graphics to show off, but I consider it a 'collector's item'... :-)
Thanks in advance for any help,
Keith Y. (not really a Trekkie!)

I have one called VTREK (not the multi-player VTREK or VAXtrek)
that runs on VMS. I'll look around for the sources.
STARFLEET I is a nice version of the game you refer to. It uses
the mouse for command input but it's really just a clean-up version
with some new features. One of my favorites on the Amiga.

| One one of the games gallery disks (am I the only one who bught
those?), there's the old TREK game, but they call it SUPERTREK.
I think that the game is available on a Fish Disk in some form,
although I've never really followed the FF disks because there's
so much with new versions all the time and my mind's cluttered enough
as is.

| Isn't there a games library on PICA, the node that hosts the GAMES
notesfile? Try PICA::SYS$GAMES after hours.
