1692.0. "Time-how to set it?" by HYSTER::DEARBORN (Trouvez Mieux) Fri Sep 16 1988 10:12

    I just got a new 2000. I was under the impression that it has an
    internal clock. If so, how do you set it. The Workbench disk that
    came with it was corrupt, so I had to use an old one from my 1000.

    Is this disk missing something from the startup-sequence?

    Any clues? If I'm missing something, could someone put what I'm
    missing, on the net, so that I can get it?

    'SETCLOCK OPT LOAD' should go into your startup-sequence. If you
    need to correct the time via Preferences or the SETDATE command,
    you should SETCLOCK OPT SAVE to save the new settings.

1692.2A suggestion...RAVEN1::EVERHARTFri Sep 16 1988 14:1611
    	Ummm. If your 2000 was new, I suggest you go immediately, and
    get the corrupt disk replaced. If it was mail-order, you may need
    to find someone with an Amiga 2000 Workbench disk, and copy it.
    Whatever the case may be, you're entitled to a corruption free disk.

    Happy Computing!

    P.S.  Change computing to Amiga-ing.

1692.3SETCLOCK is on the 500/2000 Workbecnh diskTLE::RMEYERSRandy MeyersFri Sep 16 1988 16:0921
Re: .0

SETCLOCK is documented in the CLI section in the middle of the Amiga 2000
manual.

Set the system date as you would normally using DATE or Preferences.

Execute the CLI command "SETCLOCK OPT SAVE"

Put the CLI command "SETCLOCK OPT LOAD" into your startup-sequence.

SETCLOCK is a new CLI command on the Workbench disk shipped with 500s
and 2000s. If you just have the 1.2 upgrade from a year ago, you don't
have it.

Since I believe any one with a name like Randy must be honest and
trustworthy, if you send me a blank disk, I'll copy the 2000 Workbench
disk on to it.

Re: .4, .5

You two just fail to appreciate the obviously noble sound of the
name "Randy," which has suffered vile and undeserved slander do
to British slang.

Re: .4

Be careful about free-association in public. It's an open invitation
to psycho-analysis :-).

    I always thought my name was appropriate.

    But back to clock setting. Thanks for the advice.
