1656.0. "Project Management" by ANT::SMCAFEE (Steve McAfee) Fri Sep 02 1988 16:59

Anyone know of any project scheduling software for the Amiga?
    Preferrably mouse/graphic oriented.

If not, maybe someone would like to write something :-)

I once tried LogisTix, but it stunk, so I returned it. It actually
used spreadsheet cells to represent tasks and milestones. Once
a critical path was identified, the cells would animate and scroll
    through the critical path.

It worked, but what a royal pain to understand and setup.

By comparison, I sat down and was using MacProject within 5 minutes
without even cracking the manual. Grrr... Almost makes me want
    to buy a Mac... almost.

Lionheart Software has little ads for PERT stuff in AmigaWorld.
I once called them and tried to get a description of the software,
but wasn't very impressed with the answers I got. No Intuition
interface, ASCII based graphics, etc... Grrrr..

There is a public domain Gant chart program out there. Don't
remember what BBS I saw it on. But there is one.

Since 2 years have gone by since the last reply, has anything shown
up on the market in that time for project planning on the Amiga?
I'll be doing lots of this in my new position and wouldn't mind
using something decent at home. I've played around with AmiGantt on
FF248 - it's ok as far as PD s/w goes, but I'd like something a bit
more professional. (I've crashed my system a number of times while using
it). Otherwise, I guess I'll have to sit down in front of one of the
Macs here in the dept. and start playing around with MacProject.

Run MacProject on your Amiga with a AMAX ?

Seriously, it would be nice if there was professional
project planner for the Ami, but...

Or MS-Project on a Bridgeboard.

Amigannt is at release 3.0 and is quite stable. I've been meaning to
upload it, but keep forgetting. I'll make a sincere effort this week.

    Re .3:

I've been using AmiGantt on a project with about 80 tasks while I'm
waiting for QWIKNET for my VAXstation. It's a LOT better than nothing,
but not in the same class as the $400+ tools available on the Mac or PC.

I've found two occasions that lead to GURUs.
    1.	AmiGantt doesn't look for closed dependency loops. If you modify a
task to depend upon itself (directly or indirectly), a visit from
    	the GURU will be forthcoming.
    2.	AmiGantt's reporting logic seems fragile, especially when
attempting to produce a PERT chart of a complex project.
