1638.0. "HELP : GURU on a `large' system !" by CESARE::ZABOT (Marco Zabot-Adv.Tech.mgr-Turin ACT) Wed Aug 31 1988 07:40

As you may have noticed from my previous postings, the moon
is not friendly to me , lately ( you know that is the moon
phase that controls s/w and h/w bugs, don't you ?!)

I have recently added an A2090 controller to wich I have
hooked an RD52. Final congifuration is:
	A2000 3.5MB
	2 floppies
	XT bridge with 32MB ( two partitions , 10+22 ) 640KB mem.
	Logitek mouse on ibm side
	A2090 + RD52 ( 3 partition , 12+10+10 )
Video composite card ( just to record F18 missions )
	Epson FX..
	Modem Hayes compatible 1200 bd....

Since then I'm visited too frequently by the following GURU:

			0000004.0c01574
^^^^^^^--- not sure on this !

	Any idea ??
PS. The RD52 is powered from the Amiga !!

Can your power supply handle all that? Suggest you unplug a card
or two at random (with power off!), then see if the flakiness goes
away. If _one_ peripheral card causes the problem, then you've
found it. If _any_ one or two cards removed cause the problem to
disappear, then you are loading the power supply too heavily.

Another potential problem: is your machine hot anywhere? If so,
adding a fan in the right place (or moving to an air-conditioned
room) may cure the flaky problems.

    This is FYI.
I finally found out what was my problem.
After having a lot of gurus 0..03.0c2764 or 0.04.0c20764 or something
like that, the other day ( it was a Sunday, of course) I turned
on Amiga and the only I got was a blinking red led. Not even the
request for the workbench. Not even a clue color on the monitor!!

I have a first version of Amiga A2000B ( those with only 1/2 MB
on board and the other 1/2 on an expansion board.

    I opened the beast ( that's a NOT working Amiga ).
By removing a piece at a time ( 1st Genlock ... last arrived, then
memory ) I discovered that the 1/2 MB mem exp was the faulty piece.

    Since then, everything is OK.
    marco.

PS. Very annouing working with only 2+1/2 MB of memory. You run
out on memory so soon ....
How can those guys with MSDOS survive??
    Oh, I forgot ... they DON'T have multitasking !!!
