Something strange is happening. Last nite I started demoing F18 to a friend of mine, and for the first time it didn't work. The output on the screen was out of sinc horizontally. Each frame was starting from a random position on the line. I though: my Amy is seriously hill. Power off. Wait. Try again. Same story. But I noticed that the workbench screen was still as a rock !! Ok. No way to demo it. The friend is gone. Try one more time. Now it works again. But with a even stranger effect !! The head of the Pilot is BLINKING !! It blinks white/red if you look at it from left and white/yellow if you look at it from top or front. No one had such experience ??? Did I missed something in the docs? Can it be due to the fact that I'm still stopped at the 4th mission since a lot of time ?? Pls, note: I'm running it from H/D, patched to avoid the whell and on a system using wb 1.3 ( 34.4)

I've had similar experiences, with the pilot's head flashing like a beacon. I too run F/18 from my hard drive. Another thing I noticed is that I have to disable my screen blanker, otherwise the screen will go blank after the specified timeout. I can always get F/18 to run correctly by powering down and rebooting. Ed. | |||||

re: .0 I have the same problem with f18, (and the same modifications). I was concerned at first, but, similar to your experience, nothing else seems to be malfunctioning. The only thing I could think of was that MACHII or CONMAN were bothering it. (I remove MACHII before starting, forgetting to do this is an interesting experience- the screen-blanker makes you "blind", suddenly, while flying...). Amy also seems to be a little flaky on really hot days, also. One fix I found was to cold boot, instead of warm boot. John O. |
