<HELP><HELP><HELP><HELP> My A2000 is going crazy ! ! (*&(&(&^%%^%$^&$$(#$ In the last couple day's I have been working on the A2000 and after 5 minutes I noticed the monitor turns TOTAL blue and no response from the machine. It is dead. Then I do a worm boot and comes up again. Another 5 minutes later the same thing. Today I also noticed that I tried to format a disk and typed in the command, it starts formating and as soon as it displays the dget and shows the formating of cylinders it stops. The error message is the the disk unusable. But the disk is usable for anything else. G O I N G C R A Z Y ! ! ! Any ideas ??? Any other victims with the same symptoms. It is late right now to open up the machine but any ideas would be appreciated. Help Help Help ...gss...8-(

1623.4 | Byte Bandit Virus ??? | STOPIT::HERBERT | Herbie goes BANANAS!!! | Wed Aug 31 1988 06:37 | 19 |
A virus may be the cause of your troubles... The 'Byte Bandit' virus has a habbit of turning the monitor screen blank and locking up the machine. After a random amount of time it strikes leaving you wondering if your machine has developed a serious hardware fault. This has happened to me, and I discovered that about one third of my disks were infected with this virus. If this is the cause of all your worries then I would recommend obtaining a virus killer and check ALL your disks. I have heard rumors of yet another generation of the dreaded virus. How this virus affects your machine I don't know, but it is immune to all current virus killers! O&O Herbie. |
