Hi everybody,
I am new to this Notesfile and already learned lots of interesting
tips thru it.
I intend to buy an AMIGA 2000 with 20Meg Hard-disk,1084 monitor
and 2Meg extension RAM as the base configuration.
Now I need some tips on what else to buy to equip myself with the
state of the art hardware and software to do broadcast quality
tapes mixing video (digitized or real video,graphics (2D,3D),text,
animated) ,and also sound from the Amiga or from "outside".
I know there are already Genlocks,digitizers,and software to do
this but you in the US probably know also about very new ones or
coming soon .
Also about the graphics and animation software it is not very clear
in my mind about the different standards (IFF,HAM,?).
I would like for instance to take drawings or animations created
with one software and re-use/modify them with another one .
Use a 2D drawing in a 3D program or vice versa.
Also for the Sound part ,what is the most convenient tool to
synchronize sound and images together (with the Amiga and not by
post-recording with Audio equipment,mixers,etc.).
Is anybody already doing this ,is it possible with the Amiga ?
Any tips welcome.Before spending (French!) megabucks ,I thought
I'd rather ask again even though I already got some information
from previous topics.

I'm not doing the things you are doing (I'm into music and accounting)
but I do have one bit of advice: get a larger hrd disk. I have
a 40 MB hard disk, and it's almost always more than half full.
If you are going to be working with video you'll constantly be
frustrated at the smallness of your 20 MB disk.

The latest edition of INFO magazine had a sneak preview of the NewTek
Video Toaster. This hardware add-on is supposed to be the ultimate
special effects generator. Virtually any effect you can imagine
can be done.
I'd check back issues of AmigaWorld, Amazing Computing, and INFO.
All these rags have had entire issues devoted to the current state
of Amiga video.
Although the compatibility between various graphics packages is
excellent for still frames, the animation standards are still evolving.
Aegis uses the ANIM standard, but Byte-by-Byte uses a different
way to describe objects. Note that I'm referring to 3D packages
now. Fortunately, there are interchange packages around that allow
you to create objects in one package for use in another. Mimetics
has recently released 3 Demon, an object generation package that
works with Sculpt/Animate 3D, Videoscape 3D, Forms in Flight and
others.
Also, .1 is correct. 20 megs is just not enough these days. Consider
that one hi-res color image can be 128K bytes (or greater with
overscan) and you'll understand.

big bucks!

Thanks to all of you.
I'll try and get the magazines (maybe difficult! I already browsed
around and just found one interesting revue here in France edited
by COMMODORE , rather new (it was the #2 issue) - I guess they won't
tell bad things against their own products ..!)
How about the SOUND questions ? Maybe this should be another topic
but I would like to really be able to work it closely with the VIDEO
or/and the GRAPHICS .
SONIX looks OK .I've been told that DeLuxe VIDEO could kind of "fit
the bill" but not perfectly .Any other alternative ?
