I'm faced with some difficult financial decisions and am considering selling my Amiga 1000. This is not a for-sale note, but a "what do you think I can get for it" note; to help me with my decision. I realize most things I bought are now a lot cheaper to buy, so hopefully I won't be too disappointed. I'm mostly curious what it will all add up to if I can sell all components. All items are in good condition, let me know what their approximate worth is if you can. Thanks. Sorry, I don't remember all the part numbers, I can find out, I have all literature and boxes. As you'll see from the dates, I was one of the original Amiga fans. Item Date Purchased Amount Paid ---------- -------------- ----------- Amiga 1000 9/85 1200- 1500+ ??? Axxx monitor 9/85 500 Axxx External drive 9/85 300 Extra internal 256K 9/85 250? Comspec 2 meg extra mem 9/86 780 Supra 30 meg drive 5/87 960 Lattice C, RKM developer kit 9/85 250 Manx C 6/86? 250 Misc. software, mostly public domain. Not much. (Public domain on the Amiga is wonderful!) If nothing else, my old RKM manuals (full set) are probably a collectors item :-) Anyway, can I get anything for this stuff, or is it not even worth selling? Dave

For what it's worth, I recently traded my A1000 stuff for an A2000 system. Note that I traded directly to a dealer, and he promptly sold it for a bit more than what he gave me. Here's what I had and what the dealer gave me... A1000/512K $400 A1010 Floppy $100 Sony CPD1290 $350 SupraDrive 20 $400 I was surprised at how fast the system went. In fact, everything was sold the day I dropped it off. Apparently there's still some demand for A1000s, but anyone who knows about the inability to retrofit the new ECS (Enhanced Chip Set) to the A1000 will probably defer. If you're willing to forsake a little money for a quick sale, you may want to try to sell it to a dealer. However, I think I only got these prices because I dropped a bundle on an A2000 system, where there was a lot of fat to trim. // \X/ Ed.

I think Ed's price list is about right. The memory Location is still selling used A1000/512K for $550. This includes a 90 day warrenty ( in store service ). I'm not sure about the rest of the prices, but you can call the memory location and ask. They sell used equipment all the time. They have suggested prices when I wanted to sell used software and hardware. If you want them to sell it they charge ?% from the price or give you credit in the store. Steve Peters

re: .0 you might want to consider keeping the 512K A1000, just sell off the 2 Megs and the hard disk. Hard disk prices are coming down slowly, and 2 Megs is very expensive now, might be easy to sell them at a good price. -dave |
