1414.0. "MVP-FORTH" by AYOV10::ATHOMSON (C'mon, git aff! /The Kelty Clippie) Wed May 11 1988 06:18

    I just bought a copy of FF#9 specifically for the MVP-FORTH but
    I'm having a few problems...

    Has anyone else tried to use it ???

    FORTH loads and runs fine but I can't access any screens. Several
    files are included e.g. MVPAMIGA.SCR which are screens but I don't
    know how to access them !!!

    	HELP !!!!

    If itsx FF#9 it was probably written for V1.1 of Wb. I assume you
    are using Wb 1.2. That might be the problem.
1414.2It works.AYOV10::ATHOMSONC'mon, git aff! /The Kelty ClippieThu May 12 1988 04:4720
    Well, I was worried about it being for 1.1 only too, but.... I managed
    to figure out the required commands last night.

    to open an existing file of screens:

    " foo.bar" old file  ( to open existing file foo.bar )

    to create a new file of screens:

    " foo.bar" new file ( to create the file foo.bar, empty )
    followed by:
    100 larger ( to create 100 screens in the current file )

    And it does work, complying fully with FIG79, and including a full
    screen editor.

    It isn't particularly fast, but the opening screen does admit that
    it isn't optimised.

1414.3Yikes!WJG::GUINEAUThu May 12 1988 09:0912
It's funny. I did some *real* basic stuff with Forth on the VIC 20 some years
back (4-5?). Back then, it seemed to make perfect sense (comming from a
Assemble lover...(who's converted to C :-))

Now I see examples in the magazines and in here, and I'll tell you, this
stuff must scare off beginner programmers real well!

I mean, almost all languages make *some* logical sense even if you don't know
the language, but Forth?
