| Don't know what the list price is, but the Software Shop has it
for $35.00.
I think I got the last copy. Better call before just running down
there.

| Memory Location has it for $49.
The ads show Curly vs a bowl of soup, is that anywhere in the game?
I haven't found it so far. Other than the long delay between loading
screens its a reasonable game. Except it would be nice if I could
skip the long intro.
Also bought Obliterator (by Psynosis). The design & graphics look
like they were done by the same folks who did Barbarian. But this
time they let you start the game by hitting any key OR MOUSE BUTTON.
(Barbarian starts with "hit any key" but it can't read any keys
from the german design a2000 keyboard).
I haven't tried it on my a2000 yet. Runs fine on 2.5 Meg A1000.
On page 18 of Amazing Computing v3 #5, is the following:
"Psygnosis has acknowledged that Terrorpods has trouble with the
German keyboards shipped with the first Amiga 2000s, and a fix is
in the works. While they're fixing the keyboard routines, programmers
are planning to incorporate 68010/68020 support. The upgrade will
be available free to registered owners."
No mention of Deep Space or Barbarian.

| Yes, Curly vs bowl of soup is part of the game...one of the funnier
parts.
I got the game last night. Putting it on hard disk speeds up the
breaks between scenes. The use a strange key disk system though,
making it a clumsy process to start the game. It doesn't ask you
to insert the original disk. You have to read the directions to
get it to work right. DUMB.
When the game ends, the game locks up. You have to re-boot to start
over or to go on to something else.
As for the Boxing scene, has anyone been successful at getting Larry
to jump over anything? This is the least successful scene in the
game. The sound effects are great. But the game play is terrible.
The hospital is a crack up, especially if you make it to the operating
room at the end of the hall.

| re: .4
thanks, but how do you get to Curly/soup? Is it buried somewhere
like the hospital operating room (haven't got there yet)
Still dodging in the Boxing run, didn't know you could jump... time
to read the docs.
has anybody tried running the game out of VD0:?

| Yeah, you can jump in the Boxing run, just push the fire button.
He seems to need to be running to clear objects though. I have
not been able to get him to jump over anything without falling.
If he hits something like the light pole while jumping, he will
slide down it to the ground (with appropriate sound effects.)
The soup: It appears as a selection on the "game board" labeled
Oyster Contest, like Hospital or the other areas. It doesn't come
up as frequently though. Fight Larry and Curly more often to slow
down the selection hand, so that when the option comes up, you can
select it easier.
Clues for all the trivia questions appear in the booklet that comes
with the game. Read it first and you will gain points easily.

| If you hold down on the fire button, Curly will stay in the air
longer. It's really not too hard to jump objects. But it is hard
to complete the sequence.
To skip the intro, hold down the escape key while the game is loading.
I think it's really stupid that the game locks up after you are
finished playing it. Especially after you have taken the last 20
minutes loading it into RAM:. Even after you have loaded it into
RAM: it does alot of disk access on the key disk.
All in all I think it's a pretty good game, but it is not very
playable.
Has anyone won?

1361.8 | . . . | HYSTER::DEARBORN | Trouvez Mieux | Wed May 04 1988 01:02 | 13 |
| Eject the key disk after the dick light has gone off. This is after
the initial access during the title sequence. This will force the
game to use RAM: or your hard disk instead. That should speed things
up. This is the point that is not made very clear in the read.me
instructions.
I have won. ($5648. Enough to save the home, but not enough to
fix it or win the women.) It is time consuming. I skipped the
last 4 days of the month by selecting the mouse trap to speed things
up. I already had enough money and fingers...

| I got it to work on my VD0: last night. Actually makes the game
playable. Used READKWIK (and RITEKWIK) to populate VD0: from
floppy. Uses two disks, but loads a lot faster than COPYing from
the game disks.
ESC gets to the Defender of the Crown screen, any way to skip over
the whole intro?
That STG0: stuff is interesting, the real STG0: overrides the ASSIGNed
STG0: while the disk is in the drive.

| Boxing: Jumping usually requires that you've picked up speed are holding the
fire button down. Hold the joy stick to the right to speed up (or left if
you are on the return trip). The more rounds left when you get back get you
more points. You also get a nice digitized pic of Moe and Larry at ringside
with the radio.
Oysters: They show up on the game board exactly like the Boxing space only
its labeled crackers. :-)
Good luck,

| I've set my game up on hard disk. I created two icons to start
it. The first one does the assigning and CDing. The second one
asks for the key disk and starts the game.
No more typing with CLI. I used that utility (I forget the name)
that allows you to create icons that issue CLI commands. Works
great.
