| I think it's the other way around...Hypercard is an implementation
of just part of the "promise of Hypertechnology". The bits and
pieces make Xanadu sound like a full implementation.
The one small point they are missing is that even a limited
implementation like Hypercard is very useful to folks who don't
want to write code just to manipulate data.
Just think of all those potential Amiga sales going to Apple
because there isn't an Amiga Hypercard. IFF has standardized
the amiga data storage, what is missing is a user interface
to will let you link them together (Deluxe Video does some of
that, but not enough).
The equivalent of Hypercard must come from Commodore, or be blessed
by them, to have the same impact as Hypercard in the MAC market.

| Read "Computer Lib/Dream Machines" by Ted Nelson, just reissued
by Microsoft Press. Nelson also wrote a book called something like
"The Xanadu Project" which is in the DEC library system. Even though
he and others have been working on it since the mid-seventies, Xanadu
has never been a commercial success.
There is also a hypermedia notesfile -- sorry, don't have a pointer
any more.
