1167.0. "New FF disks uploaded" by ELWOOD::PETERS () Sun Feb 14 1988 00:55

    	I have just recieved the latest FF disks 119-128. To say the
    least my modem has been very busy. So the following are now available

    FF124	MVCAD3::user0:[amiga.ff124]
    FF125	MVCAD3::user0:[amiga.ff125]
    FF126	MVCAD3::user0:[amiga.ff126]
    FF127	MVCAD3::user0:[amiga.ff127]
    FF128	MVCAD3::user0:[amiga.ff128]

    	Please let me know if anyone has problems with any of these
    files. As before the are instructions in

    	 MVCAD3::user0:[amiga]Fred-Fish.help

    	Now I tied up my phone for a few more hours and the result is

    FF122	MVCAD3::user0:[amiga.ff122]
    FF123	MVCAD3::user0:[amiga.ff123]

    	As always directions are in MVCAD3::user0:[amiga]Fred-Fish.help
    The help file should be read before down-loading. Each ARC has a
    execute file ( command file ) that should be used to extract the
    files.

1167.2The countdown continuesELWOOD::PETERSTue Feb 16 1988 00:2513

    	Well, a little more transfer time and now

    FF121	MVCAD3::user0:[amiga.ff121]

    is available. As I have heard no complaints I assume FF122 - FF128
    are O.K. As always I do take requests, but only as time allows.

1167.3SDBACK.ARC problem on FF128SAUTER::SAUTERJohn SauterTue Feb 16 1988 09:087
    I hate to complain, but I had a problem with one of the .ARC files
    on FF128: SDBACK.ARC. I copied the file to my Amiga using Kermit,
    and then when using the ARC T or X commands I get the Guru on FILE03.
    All of the other files are OK.

    Has anyone else seen this problem? If not I'll re-Kermit it.
        John Sauter
1167.4SEE 681 FOR SDBACKUPPOLAR::GOSLINGKANATA MFG I.S.Tue Feb 16 1988 09:267
       John, why screw around with FF128 when you can get SDBACKUP right
       from the source, ie: Steve Drew's directory. REF note #681 for
       specifics.

1167.5Could be the file format?LOWLIF::DAVISThat's not a BUG, it's a FEATURE!Tue Feb 16 1988 12:4211
re .3

John,
  I had a similar problem with an ARC file once that also GURU'ed when I tried
to unarc it. I got around the problem by converting it to Stream_LF on the
VAX using CVTARC and then using XMODEM. It seemed at the time that ARC on
the Amiga liked that format much better.

					Dunno, just a hint...

1167.6ff5 anyone?TOOTER::RIESFrank W. Ries Jr.Tue Feb 16 1988 13:078
	Does someone have a copy of FF5 uploaded somewhere, or could someone
	please upload it? It appears that is has some examples of various
	forms of keyboard input that I would very much like to look at.
	Also, is there a PD program floating around that will play
	THRILLER and YES? These are obviously not DMCS songs.

1167.7PLAY.PAKLEDS::ACCIARDITue Feb 16 1988 13:1112
    Frank, look in LEDS3::USER6:[ACCIARDI.AMIGA]PLAY.PAK

    This is a PD Sonix player written by Mark Riley, author of Sonix,
    and placed as shareware in the public domain.

    If you're not familiar with the .PAK format, it is merely a self
    dissolving archive. Place the .PAK file in RAM: and CD to RAM:,
    then just type 'PLAY.PAK' and the archive will magically unpack
    itself.

    re: .4--Thanks, I'll try to get it from there. CGFSV2 is currently
    unreachable, however.

    re: .5--That sounds very strange. Files on the Amiga, like files
    on Unix(tm), don't have attributes. If the results of downloading
    two different ways are different, then one of those ways isn't working
    correctly.

    Aha, CGFSV2 just became "reachable". Ain't multitasking wonderful?

    Re .6 and FF05

    	One more disk done. Fred Fish 05 is at

    FF05	MVCAD3::user0:[Amiga.FF05]

    	This disk contains many programming examples. Many of the
    	programs show I/O ( keyboard, mouse, joystick ).

    Re .4
    	I'm glad to see all the time and effort I put into uploading
    	Fred Fish disks is useful. Maybe I shouldn't "screw around"
    	with this any more.

    Re .9
    	I'll get FF107 uploaded as soon as possible.

       re.10 / re.4

       Steve.

       My sincerest apologies if it appeared I was belittling your
       efforts in uploading FF128 and others - "screwing around" was
       obviously a bad choice of words!

       My intent was simply to point John to Steve Drew's directory for
       SDBACKUP, so that you, then he, didn't have to go through the time
       and trouble of re-processing, re-uploading, re-downloading and
       re-unprocessing the entire FF128.ARC for that single corrupted
       component.

       So, PPPPLLLEEEEEEEZZZZZ, continue making this stuff available - I
       most certainly do appreciate your efforts!

1167.17More FF disksELWOOD::PETERSMon Mar 07 1988 00:5735

    	The Fred Fish disks on MVCAD3 has increased again. First as
    requested

    ff44	MVCAD3::user0:[amiga.ff44]
    FF58	MVCAD3::user0:[amiga.ff58]
    FF73	has a read error. I'll have to get a new copy.

    	Now for the rest...

    FF120	MVCAD3::user0:[Amiga.FF120]
    FF119	MVCAD3::user0:[Amiga.FF119]
    FF118		"	"
    FF117		"	"
    FF116		"	"
    FF115		"	"
    FF114		"	"
    FF113		"	"
    FF112		"	"
    FF111		"	"

    	These last disks makes the set complete from FF110 - FF128.
    My next goal is to fill in the holes back to FF100. As noted
    many other times HELP is available in

    	MVCAD3::user0:[Amiga]Fred-Fish.help

    	Also any requests can be made to me or to MVCAD3::AMIGA .

I'd be glad to upload FF disks if you mail me a copy. But then they should
find thier way to MVCAD3 to keep the herd intack (or should it be school?)

    	FF64 will be uploaded this weekend. I have made two attemps
    durring the week but have had some trouble. There are names with
    spaces and other special characters in them. These always give
    my process trouble.

    	Disk 64 contains the IFF specification. The entire disk
    is in one arc file IFF.ARC . Disk FF105 contains Bison as well
    as other things.
