I need some advice from you Amiga-musicians. I currently have DMCS and like it's editing capabilites. After hearing the Sonix Player demos, I want more! The instruments in Sonix seem much superior to those I've seem for DMCS. On the other hand, Sonix looks like it lacks in the score input/editing area. I just heard of a product called SYNTHia that lets you make your own instru- ments -- has anyone used it? Would it be better to get Sonix, or get SYNTHia and try to make instruments for use with DMCS?? All opinions are appreciated! ...richard

I think I saw it at the MARC show last fall, but no real experiance with it... but...I uploaded another song....(it has a fairly good PD instrument in it too) mvcad3::user0:[amiga.dmcs]cats.arc (this is Memory from Cats, not the Commodore CATS ;-) scott
1163.2 | Sterio Sampler | BONKER::DUPRE | The Sherrif of Noting-ham | Mon Feb 15 1988 12:19 | 15 |
You might also consider the sterio sampler from Perfect Sound. This is a device which plugs into the parallel port and digitizes a sterio signal. One can use this to obtain a sample then create an instrument from the sample with the software that comes with the device. For instance, I connected the sampler to my sterio system, I took an empty beer bottle and blew across the top of it producing a tone which was picked up by microphones and thus by the sampler. I took the sample and edited it to get only the part I wanted then I made two more samples, one higher and one lower, with the software provided and merged the three into a three octave instrument. Next I loaded the new instrument into DMCS and presto! the Bottle-phon lives! I got this at The Software Shop for $70 JimBo
