1139.0. "Commodore shops in London ?" by HSK03::HEISKANEN (Pekka K. Heiskanen) Fri Feb 05 1988 09:38

	           <Commodore shops in London ?>

Please tell me some names and addresses of Commodore shops
in London. I'd like to buy software (games...), books
that describe the AMIGA world and Micro Floppy Disks and ...

This is because I will visit London and the prices here
in Finland seem to be terrible compared to prices almost
anywhere else. So maybe I will buy...
Yes my kids have AMIGA 500 and sometimes even I can use it.

	thanks in advance
	Pekka

    Hi,

Well I don't know of any dedicated Commodore shops in London (but if
anyone does I'd be eager to find out too). I would suggest, however,
that on your trip you simply stroll down Tottenham Court Road, just
about every shop sells computers and not just the really popular stuff
but some obscure things as well. The prices are usually competative as
well. Just about every one of these shops carries a good stock of AMIGA
stuff. Certainly the place to try ! Also for AMIGA books there is a
book shop called Foleys (sp) in the Charing Cross area which sells just
about every computer book ever written. They have lots of AMIGA books.
I don't know the exact address but I'll try to find out and post it.
But your best bit is just to use the tube to those stops and have a
    look about.

    Colin.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any dedicated shops either, but Tottenham
Court Road is a good place to go. I got my A500 from there (for
429 when the recommended price was 574), from a shop called G&B
computers, who have 3 outlets on the road, and there is someone
else called Hi-Voltage that specialises in Amiga and ST. I'll look in
some magazines and reply with some addresses.

    There
is also a place back of Holborn which I think specialises in Amiga:
I was in their Victoria branch Saturday, but its apparently smaller
than the other SHOP. There's also Silica Shop in Selfridges
on Oxford Street. Silica shop prices tend to be higher than the
Holborn place, which seems to have a good s/w range.

	O.K.

I already was in Tottenham Court Road and in
Oxford street (some shops there too). And I
	got what I wanted.

	Thanks,
