I found the following on a local BBS that I thought you all might get a
laugh from.  Those of you that know about these already - why have you
been keeping such deep secrets from us???? :-)

                        Hidden messages in the Amiga

  There  are,  not  surprisingly,  hidden  messages in most computers, and
often in commercial software.  The Amiga is no exception, and in fact, has
many hidden messages.  Here are at least some of them, though there may be
more.   Rumour  has  it  that  there are 10 hidden messages in Preferences
alone.   We  will  start  with  the ones in WorkBench.  These require some
pretty fancy fingerwork, so limber up and give them a try.

First, click on the WorkBench screen.
Press the left shift and left ALT keys, the right shift and right ALT
keys, and while holding these down, press each function key in turn. 
Watch the title bar, and read the messages (all 10 of them)

NOTE: the second message of the two that follow contains profanity.

Now go back to the F1 key. Get the message for the F1 key as above. Now
eject a disk. Again, look at the title bar for another message.

Finally...
(you knew it had to end before your fingers broke), press either the left
or right Amiga keys (don't let go of the shifts, ALTs, or F1), and replace
the disk in the drive. Again, the title bar displays the message. This one
is not for anyone offended by profanity.

  Now for the hidden messages in Preferences.

  Run Preferences. On the preferences screen, near the mouse speed and
double click timing gadgets, you will see two pictures of a mouse. The
buttons on these mice are actually gadgets. For ease of explanation, let's
number the buttons from left to right. (1, 2, 3, 4).

Click on the mouse buttons in this order:

  1 2 3 4   1 2 3 4   1 2 3 4   1 2 3 4

Now select "Change printer"

Now  scroll  the  printer  driver  list downward with the up arrow gadget.
When you reach the top, click the up arrow once more.  Read the message in
the title bar.  All together now, say "Awwww".

  The next message also uses the mouse image gadgets.

Click on the mouse buttons in the following order:

  3 2 4 2   4 3 2 2   3 2 4 2   4 3 2 2 

Now select "Change printer", then select OK, then select "Reset Colors".
Read the message in the title bar.

  There is a small mystery on the Preferences screen. Directly to the left
of the date, there is a hidden gadget, one pixel wide, 8 pixels high. It
can be activated by clicking on it. The only effect I know of so far is
that after clicking on it, the date will increment or decrement by
strange amounts.

I couldn't get this one to work... And I'm not even offended by profanity :-)

I couldn't get two of them to work for me:

  1.  The 'profanity' when you stick the disk back in.  (I did get the
      message when it was ejected)
  2.  The sequence that John mentioned in .1

I assumed it was just my version of WorkBench and that it might work for
some of the rest of you.

Me too.

COme to think of it, I didn't get either of the disk eject/insert ones to work.
And I didn't have a 1x8 pixel gadget near the date... Hmmm...

Might be that I need to use the original WB disk. I'll try that this weekend.
