| I want to see some reasonable solution to the hi-res flicker problem.

I'd like to see EDT or TPU/EDT-Emulation on Amiga.
Cheaper RAM and Hard disk expansion

1008.3 | a stable bus architecture | STAR::BANKS | In Search of Mediocrity | Wed Dec 23 1987 14:39 | 15 |
| After watching Commodore saying a buss full of SOTS slots is the
way to go, then watching Commodore saying Zorro I is the way to
go, then watching Commodore say Zorro II is the way to go...
I'd like to see Commodore stick to more than one bus structure for
more than a year. So far, they just produce a machine, produce
upgrades for the machine, then move on to another standard. Zorro
II looks a lot more stable than the previous ones, but it wouldn't
surprise me a bit for them to decide the current Commodore Zorro
II cards are just Amiga 2000 upgrades, then decide to start the
whole mess over with the Amiga 3000.
I've wished something similar for the last two years, and my wish
has yet to come true. This has had the less than pleasant effect
of scaring me away from expansion products for our 1000.

| I too long for a flicker-free color hi-res mode. Looking at the
Mac ][ display makes me green with envy. Even a $450 Atari 520
ST with a mono display looks great.
There have been many rumors, some probably juxtaposed, regarding
the solution to the problem.
One rumor has it that CBM will ship a new monochrome monitor capable
of displaying 1024 x 780 non-interlaced. This monitor would work
with any Amiga, since the de-interlacing is internal to the monitor.
To address this larger display would probably require a software
device driver or something. Maybe it's a part of WB 1.3?
A Massachusetts company has demo'ed a card for the A2000 that provides
a non-interlaced signal in all modes, including 4,096 color HAM.
Lower-priced versions would support only 640 x 400 x 4 non-interlaced
for the A1000 & A500.
I'd also like to see the new hard disk driver. It's been in beta
never-never land for about 9 months now.

| I'm still waiting for the basics like a pinball game, joust, pengo,
etc.
My big wish is that Max Toy will someday demo the A2000 on the
Computer Show.
Also a fast file system and a cheap scsi adapter.

1008.7 | Might as well.... | 16BITS::KRUGER | | Wed Dec 23 1987 21:35 | 19 |
| Well, since I'm wishing....
A 32-bit bus (to tell you the truth, I WISH THEY HAD BEEN INTELLIGENT
ENOUGH TO DO THAT THIS TIME AROUND!!!
32 bit versions of the chipset
a 68030 processor
and a nice 1Kx1K screen!
If you want me to get real, I could wish for 1.3 to come out, the
new monitor, and a 68030 board with full tricks (burst mode RAM,
etc)
I WISH THE !@#^%!@$&^ FEDS WOULD DROP THE PRICES ON 1M CHIPS!!!!
You listening Santa?
